Hi All

Have been looking at these forums for a week or so now - so much information I am overwhelmed!!

We got the Disney bug when we visited Hong Kong Disneyland - knew the kids would enjoy it and thought the grown ups would enjoy the kids enjoying it - however we all loved it much more than I had anticipated :lovestruc

Now we are thinking about a trip to Disneyland :yay:

Looking forward to spending some time on here and finding out more.

Hi!:)

WELCOME to the DIS!:)

I am not from Austrailia, but have met many wonderful Guests and Cast Members from Austrailia during my Holidays(Vacations) at the Walt Disney World Resort.

I KNOW exactly what you mean about liking Hong Kong Disneyland more than you expected!

I went to WDW in 2003 for a "once in a lifetime" trip.I now have taken SIXTEEN Holidays there since then!:)

I became a MAJOR WDW Fan as soon as I entered Magic Kingdom.

Disneyland would be great, but please consider WDW instead. It is so AWESOME and MUCH bigger than Disneyland.

If you have any questions about WDW,I would be happy to answer them if I can.:)

If you thought Hong Kong Disneyland was good you ain't seen nothing yet.
I would second the recommendation that you go to WDW instead of Disneyland as your next Disney experience, especially given the current situation in which airfares to Orlando are much cheaper than usual and are not much more than to LA, and accomodation both on-site and off-site at WDW is much better value than at DL.

I would recommend going to WDW ... but would suggest trying to get to BOTH Disneyland and WDW in the one trip.
I mean that 13hour flight to LA is no picnic so I would look at getting a stopover if you have the time.
Additionally, depending on when you are thinking you will be going, the Magic Kingdom and Disneyland will gradually be getting more and more different as the Magic Kingdom is transformed.

But yes...HKDL...you ain't seen nothing yet.
Importantly the Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean and Splash Mountain are not at HKDL. These are classic Walt attractions that hold some true Disney magic with the art of storytelling and immersion.

Bigger doesn't necessarily mean better. Disneyland is wonderful and magical and a lovely place to visit. And a lot more affordable for Australians than WDW.

We are lucky enough to be visiting both DL and WDW on our upcoming trip but I've been to both before and can honestly say that if I only had the time and/or budget for DL then we'd be happy just to go there.

:welcome: to the Boards. Have fun trawling through the threads for info. If you're addicted, get used to doing :surfweb:!! :rotfl:

If your budget stretches, I recommend both WDW and DL. We love WDW but there's a magical extra about DL for us.

You are ABSOLUTELY correct about Disneyland!:)

After all, that is where it ALL began!:)

My only point was that if the OP had a choice of one or the other,my suggestion would be WDW becuase of the 4 parks,2 Water Parks,22 Resorts,2 Miniature Golf Courses,2 Entertainment districts,Sports Complex,Golf Courses,200 Restaurants.etc.:)

I agree with a PP,OP,you should go to BOTH Disneyland and the Walt Disney World Resort!NOW,that would be MAGICAL!:)

I certainly think there is more bang for your buck at WDW.
There is an endless supply of accommodation in the area so better deals are available for good quality accommodation from really nice motel style suites to apartments at timeshare developments
And...of course on property you can rent DVC for a good rate and there are regular deals for the value, moderate and deluxe accommodations.

But...Disneyland is superior to The Magic Kingdom on many levels so I would suggest both....
If there is only one...then I would go to WDW.:thumbsup2

And of course if you could get a super deal...I'd choose Tokyo over them all.:cloud9:

Thanks for all your replies.

We have thought about WDW but at this stage feel we will go with Disneyland. We really enjoyed Hong Kong Disneyland and had 6 trips there over the 3 weeks we were in Hong Kong - we stayed there for our last 4 nights. So if one little park can keep us happily entertained for 6 days then we think we will have more than enough to do in Disneyland. Our kids are also not into the really fast or scary type rides (they are 9 and 6) so we can always save WDW for when they are bigger and braver!!

Queenie82 - what is Tokyo like, jetstar have just finished a 2 for 1 deal to Japan and their birthday sale will be coming up in May - always some good bargains then.

Thanks again for the welcome :yay:
