Printing boarding passes at DVC resorts

This probably isn't DVC specific enough to remain here, but I was wondering if other folks had this same issue lately. We have always been able to take our airline information to the front desk at OKW and have them print our boarding passes for us. This was true for NWA when they were not on the Disney check in list. This last trip, we tried to do the same for Sun Country at Kidani, and they wouldn't do it. They said they could only print passes for those airlines they could actually do check ins for. Why is that? We've never had an issue doing this in the past, and if I had a printer of my own, I'd be able to do it. Why can't I have them do it? We ended up having to leave 3 hours ahead for the airport, because we weren't sure how bad the line would be for check in. When we got to the gate area, we found out other WDW resort guests had been able to print boarding passes from their Disney resorts, so that really puzzled me as to why we couldn't do that at Kidani.

Anyone else able to have the front desk print their boarding passes from non-check in airlines?

I suspect the reason was an under-trained CM, not any new rule or policy.

You could print the boarding passes yourself at one of the business centers on property. It would require buying come computer time and, perhaps, paying for each printed page.

If you have a smart phone, some airlines are now allowing checkin on those. They then provide you with a bar code that can be scanned at the airport.

Diane,
We flew Sun Country in February and were able to print our boarding passes at the concierge desk at BWV. The CM there had never heard of Sun Country but had no problem using our confirmation number to print the boarding passes. She was a veteran CM (I've seen her at the BWV concierge desk many times), so maybe that made a difference. Sorry this happened to you. Not being able to do RAC is the only down side to flying Sun Country. On our next trip we will have one checked bag because we don't want to deal with carry on luggage for the kids and I am not looking forward to having to take the luggage to the airport.

Boy, Diane, hearing your experience gives me another reason to hope that Southwest joins the resort check-in (at least at OKW and AKV) soon.

They have joined RAC at AKV. Yesterday was the first day - just in time for me to use it when I checked out! :cool1:

At BLT, Disney has installed a print station that can be used to print boarding passes. The print station is right next to the DVC kiosk in the lobby. Since we were driving and had no need to print boarding passes, I didn't check out the print station to see whether it only worked for specific airlines.

AKV Jambo has a print station as well. We used it for Southwest last time. Basically you just go to their web site and check in, and print the boarding passes.

That's the way we always did it before from OKW as well, but it was a no-go at Kidani.
