Can someone recommend some restaurants where I can get some fresh fish ie, grouper, sea bass, snapper, mahi mahi.....

We ended up walking out of Coral Reef on our last trip. Wait was too long with ADR's and it was so musty and my dh thought it stunk and will never set foot in there again.

maybe flying fish at the boardwalk, or todd's blue zoo at Dolphin. (never ate at either place)
( we have eaten at coral reef 3 times, and loved it.)

I would highly recommend both of these places!!!!:thumbsup2

Flying Fish is awesome, I've had some great meals there. On our last trip we tried Fulton's for the first time and I'm definitely going back there again. I had the King Crab, but my Dad had some sort of fish filet and really enjoyed it.

Coral Reef has gone terribly downhill in the past few years.

The Fish of the day I had at GF Cafe one night was excellent. I can not remember what kind but I remember great flavor & well prepared. Offsite there is a BoneFish Grill.

Best seafood at Disney World - I want to know too! Here's my experience from 2009 and I'd love some suggestions about the restaurants planned for 2010.

Here's our feedback from Oct. 2009.
  • California Grill - the spicy kazan sushi appetizer was very good. Will return for more sushi and might make it a meal, but the steak was so good.
  • Jiko - Maize-crusted halibut - out of this world good.
  • Yak and Yeti - the seared tuna appetizer and crispy mahi mahi entree were absolutely delicious and perfectly cooked.
  • Crystal Palace - The salmon is outstanding. I'm always impressed with the quality of the food here, given it is a buffet. Been here 4x total.
  • Citrocos - The seafood appetizers, gateau of crab and seared tuna, were excellent.
  • Narcoosees - the crab cake appetizer an seafood diablo were pretty good, but doesn't compare to dishes I had elsewhere in WDW, should have had the lobster instead (next time!).
  • Restaurant Marrakesh - seafood bastilla appetizer very good.
  • Mama Melrose - Wood-grilled tuna, this was good but not really outstanding, just OK, but I did eat it all.

On our Plan for 2010 Trip (any feedback on seafood?):
  • Flying Fish Cafe at Boardwalk Inn
  • Coral Reef
  • Narcoosees
  • Citrocos
  • Grand Floridian Cafe
  • California Grill
  • San Angel Inn
  • Yak and Yeti
  • Chefs de France
  • Le Cellier
  • Crystal Palace

We have had great experiences at California Grill for seafood. We are trying Narcoossee's and Cape May Clam Bake next trip. Also considering Coral reef, we ate there a few years back but have not been since.

Biggest selection of fish would be at Flying Fish, which was excellent.

I would also recommend Citricos. They usually have a couple of fish dishes. I've had halibut, swordfish, and sea bass there. All were amazing.

We ate at Coral Reef in January and it was pretty bad. I've heard the same from a lot of people...

The Town Tavern in Celebration would be my recommendation. The menu features New England seafood - cod, haddock, sea scallops, Ipswich clams, etc. The Kelley family has it flown in fresh from Boston. They do not serve grouper, mahi etc. A rental car would be needed.

Just my 2 cents, I'm a Mainer. Have a great trip!!!:cool1:

If you had to choose between Bluezoo and Flying Fish which would you choose and why?

Our favorite is FUlton's...but it is not on the dining plan. I have read nothing but rave reviews on Flying Fish and it is definitely on our to do list next trip thanks to MickeyNicki and TigerKat's recommendation.

Is Flying Fish worth the time to get there from Epcot? I know the food is supposed to be great, I'm just not sure how long it will take us to walk there from say.... Japan.

Doesn't look like a far walk but we will have a young child (age 5). Seems like a fun restaurant. But if not worth stopping what we are doing in World Showcase and walking over..... I could just pick another Epcot WS restaurant.

I don't know what is on the child's menu, but Flying Fish is definitely an adult restaurant. A child may not enjoy many of the offerings or enjoy such an adult atmosphere. They probably have things like crayons and stuff to amuse little ones, but it is more a restaurant for the nights when you hire a sitter and take a night for the two of you.

Flying Fish would be my top choice.

Next would be Cape May Cafe clam bake buffet at BC. I've heard, though not witnessed it myself, that they've added crab, sometimes calamari, and other yummier items to their normal seafood items.

You might like Artist Point at the WL. My hubby had this last time we were there: "Our Signature Plate - Cedar Plank Roasted King Salmon - with sourdough bread dumpling, broccolini, and mulled red wine brown butter." He said it was one of the best salmon dishes he ever has had. They also have black cod and scallops dishes.

I've heard Citricos and Narcosses are both good, but haven't tried either.

Oh - and for lunch - hubby I really liked the Mahi Mahi sandwich at Big River Grille on the boardwalk. We sat outside and it was really lovely.

The Kona Cafe at the Poly has several fish dishes - Mahi Mahi, Tuna Oscar, and Shrimp/Scallops. We've tried Kona, but never any of their fish dishes, so I can't really comment on those. Oh, we did have the crab cakes there - thouse were FABULOUS.

At OKW, Olivia's Cafe has a wonderful Grouper dish. They also have Mahi Mahi (never tried it though) and a Shrimp/Pasta dish (that was good).

ones I didn't like - Captain Jacks at DTD (yuck) and Fultons. Actually, Fulton's food was good, not awesome, but good; but the service was HORRIBLE. It took us 3 hours to get through dinner because our waitress was so slow. She also brought me an unbaked potato with my meal, lol.

Almost forgot Rainforest Cafe in DTD - they have lots of seafood dishes. We haven't eaten any of them at there, but did at the Minneapolis RC, and they were all good.

Ok, I think that's it....lol. We love seafood, so I love hearing others' experiences, too. Thanks for starting this thread!
