Biergarten or Coral Reef?

We are trying to decide which of these to eat at with our 6 year olds and 2 year old. We are really hoping for a place that will entertain the kids (especially the 2 year old). Which one do people think is better?

I've never been to the Coral Reef, but when we went to the Biergarten when DD was 2- she LOVED it! She loved the band, and being able to go dance on the dance floor (do they still have one?) It was one of our favorite places- very fun!!!

We just made our ADR for the Biergarten for our trip this summer! We can't wait!

I think I would go with Biergarten. If you go to Coral Reef, the fun will depend on how much they will be entranced by the aquarium. My son liked it, but it was a little too sedate for him, since he knew that the rest of Epcot was right outside the doors! I think the band would keep your kids entertained and let them keep up their energy level! My son was really tired after Coral Reef simply because he was lulled by that water! (so was I, to be honest). We had a really good meal there, though...

Have fun! Please post your experience after you go! :mickeyjum

Children the ages of yours will enjoy both places, so really it comes down to which kind of food your family would enjoy the most.

Personally, we like seafood better, but I'd still not choose Coral Reef because we've had some less than good experiences with the food there...

But, that's just us. Basically, just pick one. I'm sure you and yours will have a wonderful time. :wizard:

Biergarten has an excellent buffet and you may sit with other families. Coral Reef is lovely, but has a more adult sit-down feel, so unless your kids love the aquarium, I'd pick Biergarten with kids the ages they are. Both are great, though.

My 4 boys love the band at Biergarten but didn't like the food much. They had to have a snack after. But they love the food at Coral Reef and they play Ispy with trying to find the specific fishes. It's all in whether your kids like aquariums or would rather like the oompah band and what food your family would like to try.

The last few times I have been to Coral Reef, the food was a disappointment. It used to be towards the top of my list but has since been removed from said list. The aquarium is nice, for a couple of mins. But the novelty wares off pretty quickly (the novelty lasts a tad longer if you are sitting right next to the aquarium).

The food at Biergarten is pretty good (the food is slightly better than CR, this coming from someone who loves seafood). The live entertainment is a lot of fun. The whole atmosphere is quite enjoyable. Just note that you will in all likelyhood be seated with a couple or small family since the tables seat 8. This can make or break the experience depending on everyone involved. If the other party doesn't speak to you (or even eachother) it can make things slightly uncomfortable.

With all that being said, my vote goes to Biergarten with its much more relaxed and fun atmosphere.

Very true...

I remember one time our party of six shared a table with two women who were absolutely horrified and disgusted that everyone was drinking beer around them. (including us)

The look of disdain on their faces was palpable. And even though it was just the two of them they made us feel very uncomfortable for the entire meal.

I felt like saying, "You know this is a BEER garden, right ?" But, I managed to keep my mouth shut.

We did ask to take a picture with them. "Not today, not ever !" was their reply.

It is funny you asked this question. When I first made our ADRs for our upcoming September trip, I originally booked Biergarten because we have never been and wanted to try something new. Well, I booked it before I read the menu, and later found out that there would be hardly anything on the buffet that DH and both DDs would eat. So instead of spending the money on them eating hardly anything, I decided to cancel that ADR and went with Coral Reef instead. We have eaten here a couple of times and really enjoyed it (love the backdrop with the tank and the food is really good) but the last time was in 2007, so I thought we could go back to an old favorite.

Biergarten hands down! (for us )
