Thoughts on new premier pass

It seems geared towards the dvc and also seems a little pricey but it does have water parks and disney quest and parking included.

This pass might interest us as it allows us to experience both parks in one year which was our thought for 2012.

A huge amount at one time but still interesting. Wish Disney had a flex pay option like Universal

At $700--which almost certainly does not include tax--it's still too high for me.

I won't go through all of my math but I can make out far better just buying tickets/APs individually for the number of trips we take.

Now, if DVC can get us another $100-150 off, that changes things dramatically. Since the pass was first rumored, I figured that I would not seriously consider it for anything over $600.

Aside from that, the thing that would influence my decision most would be a payment plan. Sure I have the funds available, but getting an interest-free loan from Disney helps the economics of buying the pass. I'd rather budget $200 per month rather than being charged $2400 on the spot.

(Wow that's still a lot of money. )

If Disney can get me to the point where I'm being debited $45-50 per person, per month, I may just buy the pass for our entire family and never waste another moment studying ticket prices again.

Flex pay as universal calls it w/ automatic debit would certainly make it an easier buy.

We live in Indiana and all have flex pay annual passes for universal since it just seems so much easier to justify than upfront costs. Also, quite a bit cheaper

However, since joining DVC last year, this flexibility would make Disney more likely. In fact, when I first joined last year, I called member services satisfaction and when they called back they noted this suggestion and said they had heard many times DVC members were wanting a coast to coast pass. It is cool to see they do listen when enough people ask for it.

We are AP holders and even with them letting you upgrade it still seems pretty expensive. We do want to take our boys to Disneyland some day. If this is still around then maybe the price would be right. Might be cheaper to buy the pass and have it all instead of buying AP's and tickets for DL.

I can't see them selling them for $500 when a full price WDW Premium AP is $494.

We normally would never buy an AP due to expense and not being in driving distance. And, honestly, DW once a year is enough for us. Other places to go and see.

However, both DL and DW has its mertis. Also, there are alot of other fun places nearby in CA to visit. Love eating at DL as they have my fave restaruant in both parks.

I think it is way too expensive. My thoughts are it should be priced similarly to a WDW Premium Annual Pass. I mean, if someone uses it for 15 park days at WDW and 15 park days at Disneyland, how is that substantialy different from a local using their discounted annual pass for 30 days at Disneyland OR Walt Disey World? Or even a local using a highly discounted seasonal pass for 30 park days during a year?

As I stated in a previous thread, this would benefit me this year IF DVC members were to get at least a $100 discount. It would still be slightly more than the tickets I plan to buy but I would gain extra days in the parks (my stays are longer than the maximum day tickets), extra discounts and a few magazine subscriptions.

I will probably buy it just for convenience. That said, there are only two of us.

It would be a no brainer IF either:

-- Pleasure Island was still open. That gave me the need for the PAP.

-- We get at least $100 DVC discount.

We are planning 2 trips to DL this summer and 2 trips to WDW in Fall and next Spring, a total of about 25 Parks days. Our cost for these days, including using our GAD GADD voucher, would be about $601 for a Costco 4 day DL pass, upgrading the voucher to a PH, and a WDW DVC AP. If instead we apply our GAD GADD to the Premier Domestic AP, our cost is $628 to purchase at DL, for a total cost of about $25 per day. For this difference, we could visit DL on any day. We are about 4 hours away, but might go for the D23 Destination D seminar in September or Thanksgiving at Club 33 or the CP or ???. Even wihtou a DVC discount, it seems like a no-brainer for us this year.

By the way, it appears that the OOP cost is higher if purchased at WDW than if purchased at DL because CA does not charge sales tax on theme park tickets. That may be one reasons that the tickets will not be available online. -- Suzanne

We buy APes at both locations anyway.. Although, they are staggered--so we don't have to come up with the full amount at one time. Ex. My premium AP at DL just expired and my regular AP at WDW expires in Dec. I would normally wait until our next trip to DL (in Jun) to purchase another AP.

DH has a deluxe AP at DL (expires in Aug) and a regular AP at WDW (expires in Dec. I wonder how much it might cost to upgrade?


The discounts at DL are better with the premium AP, so we like to have at least one. I noticed that they were giving AP discounts inside EPCOT on our last visit--they asked if the pass was regular or premium AP. It sounded like premium would get a better discount...

Actually, it looks like I was wrong on this point. it has been posted on the DL board that $22.75 in tax will be charged on each ticket no matter where it is purchased, all of which will go to the state of Florida.

And, assuming you can upgrade using the GAD GADD voucher, it will actually be $7 cheaper at WDW because at DL the voucher is valued at $72 and at WDW it is valued at $79. -- Suzanne

This pass will work for anybody who generally gets WDW PAP and planning to go to DL for the year as well. For people like us who only needs WDW AP and planning to go to DL once in a year it's not worth it.
DL 5/6 day pass is around $200 (or less). So add that to $415 AP still less than $700+tax pp. So unfortunately it won't work for us... oh well. I was hoping...

If DVC gets $100 savings that would change everything.

Too expensive for us...we only go to WDW. We'll go to DisneyLand some day, but that will be in the future.

People keep talking about a DVC discount, but the website clearly states there will be no DVC discount. What am I missing?

wow no sales tax in California too! I'm sold... I have a family of 5 and yes it's a bit steep but makes so much sense for what our Disney plans are. we go to Disneyland at least 3 times and year and to add Disneyworld in the mix it makes my DVC i purchased that much more attractive!!
