What do we do if one credit short for Cali Grill?

My husband and I would like to go to Cali grill and have the kids spend time in the kids club but we will only have 3 TS credits left....do we pay the fee for the other? The $42? Or can we not do it?
Thank You!

One of you can use 2 credits; the other can pay OOP. You will not be able to use that 3rd credit for half of a meal.

And I don't know where you got the $42 from. If you are paying OOP, you can order anything off the menu, not just something that costs $42.

I am not sure if or how that would work but it would probably be easier to pay out of pocket for one meal at another restaurant so you have 4 credits when you get to CG.

You would pay out of pocket for one meal and use the 2ts credits for the other. You can't use 1 credit and pay for the other credit for the other person.

Actually, most times if you do the math, the 2 TS restaurants are a worse value on the dining plan than a 1 TS. OP is probably better off paying OOP at CG for one of them rather than saving a credit at another place.

Thank You! So do you think it would be better to save the credits, pay oop for cali and then use the credits at a fave of ours, Boma?

I think that's what we will...use the TS for Boma! Thanks everyone!
I think you made the right decision. The two-credit spots are often a bad value, which counteracts the purpose of the dining plan. And you get a meal at Boma, one of the best restaurants in Disney, out of the deal. Sounds like you're definitely making out ahead in this situation!

Sounds like a good plan. We've been to the Cali Grill three times in the last two years and have not been overly impressed. We prefer most of the other signature restaurants. We haven't have to think about meal credits because we've had TiW, if we were pn the meal plan we might have been disappointed by the Cali (the view is great, though). We love the food at Boma.

IMHO, Signature restaurants were barely worth the 2 TS credits when they included appetizers. Now that they don't they don't make sense from a financial standpoint. Of course, if you have extra credits, or are on the DxDP (AKA, the Jabba the Hut Plan), then they make sense.

I would just use two credits for one meal, and pay OOP for the other meal. I would have the waiter use the dining credit for the more expensive meal. You could also share something at another TS, maybe order an extra appitizer. That would free up an extra credit, and you wouldn't have to worry about it:)
