IF free DDP is offered...will I lose trip ins. to rebook?

Currently booked at POR with military rate and added DDP...however...if the rumors are true, and free DDP is offered, and I rebook paying rack rate for the room, plus one days worth of my way tickets with the free dining, do they have to completely cancel my original reservation, and if so, will I lose the $130 I paid for insurance, or is it transferrable to the new reso??? I know...lots of assumptions here! Technically, however, we would save about $350, and end up with five days of tickets to the park instead of the 4 day military tickets...thanks for any advice!

no, you wont lose the insurance. They will just change the discount and your reservation number stays the same. You would just lose the military rate.

As long as your dates of the trip do not change, they will allow you to modify the reservations and apply the new discount (providing there are rooms still available).

However, if you have to adjust dates, they may require a cancellation and re-booking...in these cases, you do lose the insurance.

That happened to us one of the first years of free dining. We were booked in July and then changed to free dining in August. We had to pay the insurance again. It worked out because the difference in my airfare was 3 times as much as the insurance I lost (plus I saved the dining costs!!!).

Thats why you should consider adding insurance at the latest possible date. You can even purchase that day of thru outside online agencies, I have in past......
