Swimming with Dolphins?

If you are willing to pay for it.In Nassau we went to Blue Lagoon Dolphin Encounter and did the swim Amazing:goodvibes but $199 pp

I was about to say "if you pay for it." Frankly, Discovery Cove in Orlando was better than any of the dolphin things we did in any island. It's pricey too, but at least the price if for the all day experience at the park in addition to the dolphin swim.

We have only done the dolphin swim at Blue Lagoon. ( Being Canadian this isn't something we have an opportunity to do often!!) We have nothing else to compare it to but we love the Blue Lagoon excursion.::yes:: We had also never been to the Bahamas so the ride to blue lagoon, the view of Atlantis resort and the ocean side mansions and yachts were all part of the fun. We thought it cost a fortune and were glad we had spent the money for something we considered once in a lifetime:yay:

Ditto... Discovery Cove is fantastic! plus you get a 14 day admission at either Sea World, Aquatica or Busch Gardens.

If you have to choose, do the swim vs the encounter. we did the encounter in which you are supposed to be waist deep and kiss, feed play w/ dolphin but it wasn't worth it. The trainer had about 12 people sitting on deck and had groups of about 4 in at a time and then it was "kiss the dolphin" 1 second, "feed the dolphin" 1 second, "back on deck". She gave NO time to take a pic, get used to the fridgid water or enjoy the experience. The people over a way doing the swim looked like they had a little more time to enjoy it. Maybe it was just our trainer, but she rushed us through the motions so fast without a second in between and it wasn't worth it. We had about 2 min total contact with a dolphin.

We just researched this as well, just in case the excursion at Blue Lagoon fills before we get in on it at our 75 day mark. Actually if you pay 80.00 to upgrade your DC ticket, it will include ALL three (SW, Aquatica and BG) for the 14day unlimited admission.

Bumping,

To book through DCL or blue lagoon dolphin encounter themselves... any thoughts

DCL is definitely more expensive, but if you try to book thru Blue Lagoon directly, you cannot let them know you are sailing with DCL, or they will not accept your reservation...the way I understand it from other threads on the subject, it is an agreement they have with DCL. Also booking thru DCL gives you "insurance" if for some reason the ship cant dock in Nassau, and the excursion has to be cancelled, etc. Experienced DISers will correct me if I am mistaken. DCL booked excurions are scheduled to correspond with docking times, so this ensures that you will be back to the ship in plenty of time before sailing time, so you dont runt he risk of "running" to catch the ship if the excursion runs beyond the scheduled times, etc.
