Choose:Longer Cruise or Higher Cat stateroom?

If you had to choose between sailing longer in a very low cat stateroom or sailing shorter cruise in Higher/ Verandah, which would you do?

Example: Family of 5 choosing between 2 oceanview or Verandah rooms on 5 night Dream or 2 Cat 11 rooms on 2 b2b 5/4 night Dream.

Inside room with longer cruise.

A verandah is lovely--no question. However, there are lots of public areas where you can enjoy the ocean breezes.

Personally I like my privacy and space. To be able to walk out in my robe and sit on my verandah with a book, cup of coffee, a snack and cocktail is priceless. Cramped public spaces and cramped sleeping areas just aren't for me. I'd be so miserable w/o a verandah that the cruise wouldn't be much fun
Recently there was a thread of pics from some verandahs, awesome.
Consider your own tolerance level and you'll have fun whatever the decision.

We took the PC cruise in a cat 10 and we did fine and I loved the long cruise! It was wonderful so many days on board - and we soon leave for the TA - I am not sure how I would feel though on a b2b because you would be repeating the activities, dinners, etc. but we love all the days on the ship!

I have been in a cat 10, 9, 8, and 6 on cruises lasting 3, 4, and 7 days. So I have really run the gammet of options. Now, if I were not concerned about price, of course I would choose the cat 6, but I am sailing on the EB TA in a cat 10 (upgraded from a 12). I am taking the lower category because it is a cruise I am really interested in. You should determine what is most important to you, but for me, I always try to take as long a cruise as possible. I also would prefer a longer cruise than a b2b. However, the only time we will be in the USA during 2011 (summer), there aren't any long cruises out of FL. Only 5 nights and that does not seem long enough. I would really rather do East Carib instead of Bahamas b2b, but I am trying to work with my timeframe...

We have sailed twice. Both times with a verandah. At that time, we could get away with one room though and only had . We did enjoy the verandah, but did not really use it that much.

Maybe I will check into the Med again...

after my first cruise a very short 7 night cruise in a cat 5 i said i will never cruise on a short cruise again since that time.
14 night repo in 07 cat 11
15 night repo in 08 cat 11
12 night inside rccl
7 night cat 12 gty got a cat 9. i know i said no more short cruises i guessed i lied to myself.dcl had no decent length cruises this year.
may 26 this year cat 12 gty 10 night.
in nov 2 cruises cat 11
next year a 13 night cruise a 6 night and a 7 night combine a repo than the first alaska.
i will much rather have a longer cruise inside than a short cruise verendah.
your not in your stateroom that much you are in there to do get dress and do the 5 things that start with the letter s. sleep,shower,shave,sex, going number 2.

For me, the longer the cruise...the better!

We booked a back to back on the Dream....the MV and the cruise after for a total of 8 nights. I need 8 days onboard the new ship to explore!! Don't plan on any activities in Nassau....for that vacation the ship is definitely the destination!!! We booked Cat 9's.

On the Dream have you looked at the new cat. 8 family oceanview cabins that sleep 5 people? That might make it even more affordable to do a B2B cruise in an oceanview cabin. Also keep in mind the inside cabins on the Dream will have the virtual portholes showing real-time outside activity. The inside cabins might not be so bad with this new technology offering.

A longer cruise, no question about it. We've sailed with a verandah and without and prefer not to have one. For us, it's just a waste of money and in no way comparable to extra days in board.

Add me to the longer cruise crowd. While a bigger stateroom is nice and I would never turn it down, I am rarely in the room.

Definitely cruise longer. We were upgraded to a verandah but spent so little time in the room, we hardly used it. We are cruising again and with that experience, I actually went down a level than I had originally booked for the first cruise before the upgrade.

Inside cabin and longer cruise all the way.
Loved to sit up on deck with my Dr Pepper watching us pull into port, watch the beautiful sunsets and just watch the waves go by. Not crowded at all!

Would rather spend the money on the excursions or an extra couple of days at WDW than a cabin I sleep and change clothes in.

Being able to gain relationships with casts and guests is priceless, to me, at least.

I will always choose longer/more frequent travel over luxury travel! We spent 14 nights in an inside cabin on a Celebrity Transatlantic cruise in September, and the cabin was 170 sq. ft. - smaller than an inside on DCL. We did juuuuuust fine!

longer cruise - I love the days on-board. Our last DCL we did an inside cabin. We always spend so much time by the pool & other places that we didn't care. We're going on the Baltic cruise & we did get an oceanview for that one.

Without a moment's thought - go LONG!

I've sailed inside, outside, and balcony. There is nothing to compare iwth more time on the ocean. And if I need to get out on a balcony - there is plenty of deckspace to be found with a few floors up!
