Jet Sking on CC and "Vision" issues

We are signed up to go on the Jet Ski adventure on CC in March. I have experience riding jet skis, but only a few times.

I wear glasses or contacts and wonder if other folks with corrected vision have gone on this adventure? Should I wear old glasses (in case they fall off) or contact lenses? Do you wear eye protection over the contacts or is the splashing in the face/eyes limited? Not sure what to wear so that I can see!

Thanks!~

I just wore my sunglasses but I purchased the sunglass string holder that goes around your neck, just in case they fell off. My sunglasses didn't move off of my face though. Could be because I was driving like a granny!

I wore my contacts and goggles because I didn't want the salt water getting in my eyes and it worked well. I got the goggles on ship and they actually fit much better than the other pair I was planning to bring but forgot.

Of course, this was in December and the seas were rough, it was like driving motocross and jumping waves all the time. I got a real workout just hanging on to the waverunner, but I wouldn't have traded it for anything!

I wore sunglasses but it wasn't enough to keep the salt water out of my eyes - the splashing was NOT limited!! Even with the sunglasses, by the time we got back, I had a hard time seeing - my eyes were stinging and watering so bad! I never thought to wear goggles but sure wish I had. Part of the ride is smooth sailing, but part of it just beyond the break is ROUGH! (Fun, but rough!)

I haven't done the jet ski-ing but i bought a pair of prescription snorkel/diving goggles so that i could see while snorkelling at CC. Thre's plenty of diving shop websites that make them to order based on your prescription.

I would imagine you could use these when jetskiiing - and they would enable you to see if you decided to snorkel aswell.

It wouldn't look very cool though :rotfl2:

I wear RX sunglasses (with invisible bi-focal) and wear an eyeglass strap whenever I jet ski, parasail, go whitewater rafting or go to a water park. I once wore them WITHOUT a strap and lost them at the bottom of a water slide in the pool at the bottom!! The lifeguards at the bottom of the slide had to shut it down for a few minutes while they went in & got them for me. After that I decided I couldn't afford not to pick up a $5 strap. They sell them at all the Disney parks and on CC. OR you can pick one up at Walmart before you go.

I had my contacts in and wore my sunglasses (without a strap) jet skiing on CC. The entire time I was afraid I was going to lose my sunglasses so I definitely would suggest getting the strap for them. It was pouring down rain when we went and the water was really rough so by the time we got back my eyes were stinging. Wish I would have thought to wear goggles.

I would DEFINITELY suggest goggles. I wear contact lenses and had sunglasses on - no strap. I didn't worry about losing my sunglasses - and they didn't slip at all, but the constant WAVES of salt water in my eyes were awful. Although it was fun, by the end I was praying to get back to shore just so that the stinging and lack of vision would stop! With goggles it would have been 100% fun.

My wife and I both wear contacts, and we both had them on for the jetski excursion. We wore sunglasses with straps, and everything was fine.

There are sections of the tour where you can really "open up" the wave runners (assuming it isn't choppy that day), but our eye wear stayed on with no problem.

I wear contacts. When we went on the jetski excursion, DH and I just wore our sunglasses (without a strap). When we got back on land, the saltwater made it so we needed to clean our sunglasses immediately (they were foggy and gunky) but other than that, it worked out very well. :thumbsup2

I had this exact experience. It was my first time on a jet ski and I didn't know if I was going to make it to the sand bar they take you to. I did....and I totally enjoyed the rest of the trip. I just looked like a drowned rat when we got back!

I wore contacts and no sunglasses. I did not follow very closely to the person ahead of me but did go fast and I only got some water in my eyes. Not bad at all really.

Just got back from the 4-Day Wonder and the Jet Ski excursion.

Don't wear goggles! Once we got out where we could really let 'er rip, I couldn't see anything because the goggles got covered in sea water and gunk. I was going fast and then slow then fast and my husband who was on another jet ski was wondering what was wrong with me. It really was very scary because I could barely see and everything was blurry.

After we stopped at the sand bar, my daughter told me she barely got splashed at all - even when we were going fast.

I took off the goggles and had a great ride on the way back because I could finally see! :cool1:
