I am a new DVC member, at DWL. I haven't used any points yet but plan on taking the family in late May.
I would like to try the pool at Yacht & Beach with my sons. They always wanted to stay there but when they were little I couldn't afford it.
I had been told that if you are a DVC member you can use the pools at other resorts. Is this true? Also, if we stay 5 days at our resort and then check out and stay somewhere else for a few more days (we were thinking a Moderate) can we show my ID and pool hop? It would be just my luck that the days we are at the WLV it will rain or be too cold to swim. Peggie

I am pretty certain that in order to legitimatly pool hop you need to be a DVC member or a members guest staying at a DVC resort using points....spruce

We were told we or our guests could pool hop with our room key that has "member" marked on it. That would indicate a stay on points, and would have the efective dates. I have been told that sometimes a resort will suspend privelidges for a day or so if they are really crowded with their own guests.

You won't be able to pool hop past the days you are staying on points. Don't worry , though, the odds of 5 days in May being too cool or too rainy to swim are practically non existent.

I agree with mikesmom, we went the end of May last year and there wasn't a cool day to be found, and I dont think it rained once. So don't worry you will have a good HOT time, I'm sure.

We are heading to BWV at the end of May for 4 days and are planning on pool hopping over to the YBC(Memorial Day Weekend Extended).

It should be plenty warm enough for a CT resident to go swimming down there at that time.

With all the snow and wheather we are having I'd swim if it was 60 degrees there.

Enjoy your trip!

the problem is the parking lot filling up - that is why it is often safer to call the front desk of the hotel before you leave. If it has a problem with parking, park at BW and walk over. Also try the new Polyn Pool it will be finished in March, also the new GF. You can get to them by taking the boat to the Contemporary and then taking the monrail, so should not have a problem using those resorts.

Pool hopping is a wonderful DVC priveledge. I hope this always remains, what a great way to enjoy other resorts without always having to eat.

hi spiceycat, any idea when in March for Poly pool. We will be there 3/18 - 3/23 - would like to try, but I think we will try Stormalong bay as well.

We went pool hopping last year for the first time. It was a blast. We loved the BC pool. It was a great way to spend some down time. We used our passes and had no problem. Try it, I think you will like it.

We do it and just act casual about it. In Jan we used AKL one night and nobody questioned us. Just don't look "out of place" (i.e. seem confident like you know where you're going). And don't be shifty eyed toward a CM or that will look suspicious. Most importantly...have fun! :thumbsup2 (It's Disney, afterall).

If you are staying at AKV can you pool hop to stormalong bay - for some reason I thought this pool was excluded.

This thread is 9 years old. Back in 2001, I believe you could pool hop to any pool. The rule now is no pool hopping to BCV, YC/BC, AKV, or BLT no matter where you stay, subject to blackout dates.

My! I'm glad you pointed out the age of this thread because I could NOT figure it out! I thought I was living in some parallel pool hopping universe! :rotfl:

Hopefully a mod will close this because it could be a confusing mess for someone!

This thread is closed. Pool hopping rules have changed and are more restricted then when this thread was started in 2001.
