What does everyone do in the evenings?

Can anyone give me an idea of what all they do in the evenings? We will be sailing with a 20 month old, and 4 year old. What are your favorite things to do? Just not sure what we will do after dinner! I know we will go to the shows, but what other things is there to do? What about on sea day? Any suggestions would be very appreciated! :)

For families there are normally a lot of offerings in Studio Sea. Usually you will see dance parties, trivia shows, games, etc. On pirate night there is the deck party and buffet. The pools are still open in the evening and movies are shown by on the Dumbotron by the Goofy pool. Sometimes Bingo and dancing are offered in the Promenade Lounge.

The kids clubs have lots of events in the evening. Your 4 year old may prefer to do something there some evenings.

Of course adults can do all the family events. Plus they can also visit the night clubs for dancing, games, and shows. There are sporting events, Wii tournaments, and other fun games in Diversion. A romantic dinner at Palo is nice. The spa is open in the early evening too.

What you do will depend on what you plan to do with the toddler. For the 4 year old, there are plenty of activities in the Oceaneer's Club, and she can sleep there on a mat if she chooses. As above, there are family activities in Studio Sea and Promenade Lounge early in the evening.

Later, there are adult only shows in the various nightclubs. Match Your Mate is usually on the first night--it's a hoot. There are themed adult dances after the adult shows/games. No adult variety shows on 3 and 4 night--only on 7. Piano music in Sessions/Cadillac Lounge although the recent electronic "enhancements" have basically ruined the pianos! There are snacks outside the nightclubs and near the Promenade Lounge at 11. Obviously, you'll need to schedule nursery time if you plan on adult activities at night.

Actually they usually have something for families like Karaoke, dancing, or trivia going on at either Studio Sea or the Promenade Lounge until about 11:30 or so. So your whole family can party down till then if they so desire. Of course the clubs in Route 66/Beat Street have adult only activities after 9:00 pm. But Studio Sea and the Promenade Lounge are open for families most the night.

You are braver souls than me, lol! With my 4 year old, after the show it is bath and bed...we're usually exhausted!

What do we do in the evenings?

We are usually back in our room by 9pm or so... we'll work on getting our DS bathed, jammied and asleep... and then my wife and I will <the following content has been censored because of its adult nature>. :thumbsup2

Not that brave here! It is only DH and me. But we often go to the family events in Studio Sea instead of the night clubs. We love watching the family Karaoke and the game shows like Who Wants to be a Mousekateer.

We do the 2nd dinner seating so we get to stay at the pool until like 6:00 or 6:30 and enjoy it's emptiness. Unless we want to go to a show before dinner of course. Then we shower & get ready for dinner, maybe get pics done before dinner. Maybe go to a pin trading session... Whatever. With late dinner we don't have to rush. Then we're at dinner until 9:30 or so. Of course one night is the Pirate Party. DS usually goes to the club until it closes at midnight or to a movie. Last cruise we partied with some other DIS'ers a little... No real game plans. Midnight movie in the theater (in our PJ's).:goodvibes

We cruised with our 4 and 6 year olds and our 19 month old. We had the late dinner seating, so before dinner we'd all go to the show (they all loved these). We'd have dinner, some nights our youngest would go to Flounders to sleep if she was tired. Some nights our 4 and 6 yr old would go to the kids club to watch a movie (the CMs picked them up at dinner). If DH and I had no kids, we'd walk off our dinner and see a movie. If we had kids with us, we'd still walk off dinner and play shuffleboard or something. We actually never made it to any of the evening activities in a club. We usually all hit the hay around 12 or 1 am. We are from the west coast, so we stayed on west coast time.

That's great to hear. Other than New Year's Eve, and the night they had a third showing of the Golden Mickey's at 10:30 pm, there wasn't much to do after late seating dinner on our cruise.

After the wife and kid are in bed, I head up to the deck for a cocktail and stogey. There are a couple jacuzzis on the deck that are open late if you are so inclined.

Sailing with kids can be hard if you push them too hard in the evenings IMHO. We like to go for an after dinner swim and watch the "swim-in movie," or go for and ice cream...but, usually in bed by 10pm for the kids. It was usually hard to get them up before 9am (which was kewl,) gave me time to grab a coffee and get some pics while the decks where quiet.

Honestly.....we adults were pretty bushed too....even with a short afternoon nap by the pool! But, usually I would go get a couple glasses of wine and bring back to the room for a drink on the veranda, after the kids were in bed. We never spent any time in the clubs.

Hmmm, maybe things have changed in the last couple months. But after reading your post I decided to check out the Navigators and sure enough most nights there is something going on in either Studio Sea or the Promenade Lounge until at least 11:15.

On our HAL cruise, our kids loved the 11:30 pm shows, followed by a trip to the Midnight buffet (which stayed open until 1:30 am). They kind of missed both on Disney.

That was our sense, too! The worst was pirate night, when EVERYTHING else on the boat was shut down.

That is true. There really are no late night family events on pirate night. But the adult night clubs are still going till 1:00 or so.

Before kids, DW and I would have found 1 am pretty early to close down, and we AREN'T big partiers, just like to dance.
We didn't take our kids until they were teens, but they even liked to hang out on the deck walking until 1:30 am enjoying the breeze, and the ocean.

kids were 5 and 7 and I personally loved the shows (they did too) but sometimes they wanted to be in the club for special things. We did early dining b/c we eat early at home too so it worked and I like being able to go to the show after changing out of my dinner clothes. They also have lots of activities in the club after the main seating so that was nice too. I remember hearing that those w/ later dining felt that their kids missed some things in the clubs???

Shows, drinks, dancing and back to read my NAV for the next day....which usually I fell asleep doing at night AND THE KIddos woke me up when they came back from the club at midnight :lmao:and that is why we never could make it to sit down breakfast because they stayed up too late:rotfl2:
