Hi guys,

I wondered if anyone could help me. We are going on our first cruise EVER whilst the Magic is in Europe this year. I've heard loads of great things about Palo and also the wine/beer tastings, along with loads of other on board activities. I know that some things can be booked in advance online, however I wondered if anyone could inform me as to the process for booking activities such as Palo bruch, high tea and the wine tastings etc.

Can these activities be booked in advance or do we wait until we get on the ship? Do Disney tell you when the tastings etc. will be before you board, on embarkation day or on the actual day of the tasting and how would I then go about booking this?

Thanks

You will book at 5am (UK) at your booking window ie 75 days, or 90 days depends on how many cruises you have had. So for you its 75 days.

You can book Palo, one brunch, one tea, and one Dinner, if they are gone at 75 days do not worry you can get to Barcelona early and book onbaord on embarkation there will be plenty of slots.

Brunch and Tea are on sea days, dinner at Palo can be any night.

At your booking window you can also book Shore trips.

Wine tastings etc, are booked at guest services from embarkation.

The process, is at 5am (UK Time) long in to your reservation on the DCL webstite, and go to planning, >my reservation >my cruise plans.

It will say.

Reserve Palo
Reserve Shore
Reserve Spa.

Click on the one you want to book, the list of slots for Palo, and meals will appear, sellect the number of adults. Confirm and confirm again.

Shore trips select the port, -its best to save your favorites before your booking window as you can drill down to that, or by port.

Again select whose going all in your group or adults only etc.

They should hand out a navigator when you get to the port that will have the times for the wine/beer/martini tastings. The tickets go fast so as soon as you are done with lunch head to quest services and buy the tickets then. (I forget the price, but for me felt it was worth it-lots of fun:goodvibes)

However, if you have to book Palo at the port because there was nothing left online at the 75 day mark...you might want to look into getting a Palo reservation first. If they are full get put on a waitlist as I have heard they often get last minute cancelations:thumbsup2

Tastings circa $15 each.

Venny,

What is your sail date? We will be on the May 26th cruise! We have a website and a DisBoard meet thread if you are interested!!

If you can't get Palo on-line, just go first thing on embarkation and you can probably get what you want. We just did our first on Jan. 23 and the very first thing I did on boarding (after sending the DH, DD & DS) to Parrot Cay for lunch, was go straight to Guest Services. (Straight ahead from entry and to the right.) Immediately asked for tix to wine & tequila tastings and Galley tour. Sometimes if you wait til the day of the tasting, it may be sold out. Also, getting them first thing will help plan those days.

I did not think I would be able to try and get Palo brunch ressies (totally booked online prior) until 1:00 or 1:30, but they were in Bar D and taking ressies when we boarded around noonish...

Have fun!! Only 11 months, 14 days til our next... :sad1: WAY too long!

Try not to book Palo brunch and dinner on the same day if you can. Alot of really good food is served at both and you will enjoy it more if you are at least a little bit hungry;)

If you have to book both in the same day book the brunch as early as possible (I think it starts around 10 or 10:30) and a late dinner (maybe 8ish) and you should have plenty of time to digest the brunch before dinnertime.

Can you only reserve 1 Palo dinner 1 brunch and 1 tea for the entire cruise?
We would like to eat in Palo maybe 2 nights of the cruise will that be possible?

You are only allowed to book one of each ahead of time, even on the longer cruises. We want to book Palo at least one more time on our Med cruise too. So we will try to snag another one once we get on board.

Ah ok. As long as I can try and get another ressie onboard thats fine with me :thumbsup2

Thanks very much for everybody's answer. We still haven't managed to get ressies for bruch or tea, so we'll be rushing to get them as soon as we board!

Thanks for the invite, but I'm on the first Med cruise in April. Will make sure to report back on anything to look out for on later cruises though.:)

Several suggestion. It is true that there are multiple reservation times for palo that are saved until boarding but you increase your odds of getting the spot you want if you book a spot on the waiting list then check at time of boarding and you have a better chance of getting it. Also, if you choose a diner time that the ship is in port till late, there are usually open spots and frequent cancelations since people plan their Palo days without thinking of the fact that they are still in port enjoying the excursions.
The beer/wine/margarita/vodka tastings were an absolute blast and usually occured during your sea days. I don't remember which trip you were doing but if it is the med, you will have several opportunities to do each and we never had a problem booking and in fact went to vodka tasting without a reservation and they worked us in and still had multiple openings. Do them all if you have the chance and the appropriate space in the liver. They were a lot of fun!!
