Which excursion(s) in Nassau?

Any suggestions or reviews of excursions in Nassau? DH & I are going to be the Feb 18th 3 night cruise and we are trying to figure out what we should do on our Nassau day.

We enjoy sightseeing and relaxing We aren't really super active people, not lazy, but not terribly into swimming all day and it seems like a lot of activities are centered around swimming on cruises (prolly cause of all that water huh )

Any ideas?

Nassau is not my top locations for excursions. What I did on my first stop in Nassau was visit the Pirate Museum, Victoria's Stairscase, a nearby fort, the stores and the straw market. All in walking distance from the ship. We also took a horse and buggy tour around downtown. My favorite stop is a few blocks from the ship...the Tortula Rum Cake Factory. Its my MUST go to stop whenever I am in Nassau.

We also didn't plan any excursions in Nassau. We just walked around and then headed onto Atlantis to the casino. We plan on just going right to the casino on our upcoming cruise. Since we've been to Nassau streets twice now no need to go again. We will make it a sleep in day and then head out after lunch to the casino.

Is there any fun sightsactivities for kids??? Good places for lunch??? I'm not interestd in a beach day (we live near the water so we go to the beach often and we will have a beach day at CC).

In Nassau, the best place for lunch is the ship. There is an excursion to Blue Lagoon Island that has a dolphin experience, but if you are not looking for beach, the fort and pirate museum might work. Personally, I stay on the ship, having been there a dozen or so times, after the first 2, that was enough. Lots of people say there is a lot to do, but I find it tiring, and don't like getting hassled about T shirts, hair braiding, and all the rest of it. No matter where you go, you are a tourist.

I WISH that the other cruise ships would allow passengers to come aboard on an excorted tour to see what the other ships look like. That would be worth getting off the ship for, for me.

This is the best excursion (and value) we have ever encountered.. you get a tour of the wine celler of the only establishment to make the wine spectator top 100 international sites for 20 consecutive years. A tour of the cigar wrapping factory, a tour of the hotel and facilities (1st swimimg pool in the bahamas, all handpainted)... then you have a wine and cheese pairing that is incredible!

The wine steward, head chef, and cheese wrangler spend over a hour with you and I must say the wine was excellent. The big surprise was the cheese! The buyer loves cheese and has some of the most unique chesses that you will ever encouter (5 types of blue and 3 truffle cheeses just to name some favorites)...

This is a must do!

Hi, we are thinking of doing the Ardastra Zoo and sightseeing tour with our 3 YO, like you we also live close to the beach (not as warm though!) and so we wanted to do something else in Nassau. Our 3YO likes animals and birds so hopefully this will interest her

2 of the things we usually do at Nassau, is the Pirate Museum, which is 20 bucks per person or so, and takes about an hour or so to do and is within walking distance of the ship, or something we just did in August is the Harbor boat tour. They take you out in a modern boat, and cruise the harbor, and show the houses of the stars and famous that line the harbor.Every one from Nick Cage, to the owner of the Atlantis, to Tom Cruise.Theres a sub tour that can be combined, but from what I heard the last few times about the reefs are that they are fairly barren and not much too look at.The boat tour takes about and hour also,by itself and we usually have lunch at the Hard Rock Cafe just to get off the ship.My fiance and fmil also did the diamond hunt where you go from shop to shop collecting different types of free jewlry.

We had signed up the the wine tasting and our son for the cigar and rum tasting at Greycliff -- but alas! it is closed to tours on Good Friday and they canceled ours!!

Yes, you can go to the Straw Market, but you have to take a taxi to Atlantis, about 8-10 min ride for $4 each way. Just be sure to get a price quote upfront. All the licensed taxi's are $4 per person.

I could not agree more. I would love to check out other ships. We were in port w/ the Queen Mary 2 once and we just stared in awe - would have loved to have had a tour!!!

We've been to Nassau twice now and we are planning to just stay on the ship this time. I'm hoping everyone else doesn't have the same idea

That boat tour sounds interesting, do you know where I could get more info on that?

Yes it is.The Hard Rock is about 5 minutes from the pier if that, on a side street.I want to say its only a block or less from the water.

Just wondering if the Hard Rock is something that would entertain/interest kids? Ages.... 6,10,11,14,16 Our teens would probably like it, but not sure about the younger kids....?? I know it's a place to eat... but can anyone tell me more? Do they have live entertainment or is it just a place to get a bite to eat? Thanks.
