22nd September 2009 = Day 15

We were awake around 6.30am and decided to chuck some clothes on and go up to Deck 10 to watch the sunrise as it was on the other side off the ship so we couldn’t see it from our verandah today. We sat up there for a while but it was a little too cloudy anyway to see it properly.

Whilst it was empty we took some photos of two of the pools & watched the ship docking at Castaway Cay:

We came back to the room as we had ordered a continental breakfast to be delivered between 8 & 8.30am. I guess we forgot to take photos but I had chocolate milk, tea, frosties and an English muffin. Lee had frosties, apple juice, coffee and croissants. After breakfast we relaxed watching tv for a while before getting ready. On the way off the ship I wanted to pop into the shop to see if I could get some more antihistamine tablets as I had run out and my ankle and most of my leg was swelling from a combination of lots of walking on my bad foot and the heat rash which I always suffer with. We went down in the lift and as I stepped out of it someone had either spilt some water or been in the pool and got in the lift soaking wet but I slipped and landed badly on my knee and my already bad foot!!!! :headache:

I was in absolute agony and to make it worse the lobby was pretty busy so approx 100 people turned to see what had happened. I was so embarrassed, Lee helped me up and I hobbled off around the corner where I just burst into tears. Lee sat me down and comforted me, he wanted for me to go back to the room and rest up but I was so looking forward to Castaway Cay that I wanted to still go out. Lee went off to the shop for me to see if they had any tablets which they didn’t. :guilty: We slowly disembarked the ship and took a very slow walk along the pathway to the beach, I was limping quite badly but the stubborn side of me kept me going. :lmao:

I posted my postcards on the way and we took some photo’s:

I was really beginning to struggle and said to Lee I needed to find somewhere to sit down for a while when low and behold we came across somewhere I had heard so much about……

IMG_2010.jpg

We decided it would be rude not too so we pulled up a stall and as it was almost afternoon (well 11.15am is near enough, isn’t it????) we ordered a Corona for Lee and a Strawberry Daiquiri for me, followed by the same again. We had some good banter with the two guys serving as they were teasing Lee about his Chelsea top, they were unsurprisingly Man Utd fans.

We then walked along the family beach and found two empty hammocks at the far end where we relaxed in the sun for a while.

IMG_2029.jpg

It was very hot and we soon realised that we were near the Head’s Up bar so we decided to go for a drink to cool off. Lee had a lava smoothie and I had a peach, mango and rum cocktail but I can’t remember what it was called?

IMG_2051.jpg

After a while we decided to get some lunch from Cookies BBQ, I had a cheeseburger and half a hotdog. Lee had some ribs, chicken and a hotdog all washed down with Coke. Whilst we ate we decided that we would have a look in the shop and then head back on to the ship as my leg was hurting so much. :guilty: After a quick stop in the shop where I bought a towel, nightshirt, magnet and some Christmas decorations we walked back along the beach to the tram pick up point which took us back up to the ship.

Once back in the room I laid on the bed watching Finding Nemo followed by Monsters Inc, Lee fell asleep for a while, when he woke he went up to the drink station to get us some cold drinks and also a few more pics of Castaway Cay.

Also some from our verandah:

We got showered and dressed for our meal at Palo’s, I was really looking forward to it as I had read so many things about it on here. We arrived on time at 6.30pm and we seated straight away. Our server was Brendan from South Africa, he seemed a bit offish with us at first  however after ten minutes or so he was fine and a really lovely guy.

P1060264.jpg

Firstly we had a small four cheese pizza to share along with some breads, olives, selection of cold meats and parmesan chunks. You can see all but the pizza in the photo below:

P1060265.jpg

The above were all bought to the table whilst we were perusing the menu, we ordered some drinks a Corona for Lee and a bottle of Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio for me. For starters Lee had tuna carpaccio:

I had wild mushroom and pine nut risotto, which was yummy:

P1060269.jpg

After the starters Brendan bought us a lemon and fresh mint sorbet to cleanse the palate, it was absolutely delicious, so good (As I type this it’s making my mouth water). Main course, for Lee was garlic roasted rack of lamb served with shallots and roasted potatoes:

P1060273.jpg

My main course was the beef tenderloin with potato gratin and roasted vegetables:

P1060272.jpg

Whilst we eating dinner Lee started laughing and when I asked what he was laughing at, he said just smile as though I am about to take a photo of you, so I smiled….this is what he took the pic of behind me!

P1060279.jpg

Pirates in Palo’s!!!! pirate: pirate: I know it was the Pirate’s in the Caribbean Party that night but surely you would get changed after your meal? :confused3 :lmao:

Anyway on to dessert, with both had the Chocolate soufflé with chocolate sauce, whilst we were choosing Brendan heard us trying to choose between the soufflé and the panna cotta so he arrived at the table with one for us to share. We were so full! It was all absolutely delicious though!

P1060275.jpg

P1060276.jpg

After dessert Brendan bought over some Vodka and Lemon sorbet shots, I had both as Lee doesn’t drink Vodka, they were so refreshing.

P1060280.jpg

We paid the drinks bill and left a tip, thanked Brendan and waddled out of the restaurant. It as a wonderful meal and we thoroughly enjoyed all the courses. We went back to our room to change into some warmer casual clothes and headed up to Deck 10 for the Pirate’s in the Caribbean party. We didn’t have our zoom lens with us so didn’t manage to take any decent photos of the stage area but we managed to get a few of the fireworks and Mickey saving the day. ;)

When we returned to the room we had another little friend waiting for us:

I found a really interesting programme on the tv which was all about the Magic when it was in dry dock so I watched that before going to sleep about 12pm.

Coming soon – Day 16 = A day at Sea, lots more food and the Spa.

Another great day:thumbsup2

Such a shame about your sore ankle though, I wouldn't have been please that there was no 'wet floor' sign outside of that lift mind you!!!!:headache:

Me thinks the Wonder might need to get added to our list of future 'to dos' That list gets longer every time I read someone else' TR :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Another lovely day but what a shame about your knee/ankle!!! I've noticed water in/around the lifts quite often TBH - not that that's any help now... :(

Glad to see you made good use of the CC bars tho' - I've never been to any as we tend to go to Serenity Bay and CMs from the Promenade Lounge walk to/fro serving you... :cloud9:

Love the top you wore to Palo BTW and those are some of the best photos I have ever seen of Pirate Night!!!

What a lovely day Claire, but what a shame about your fall in the lift. I loved your photos, especially the ones taken on Castaway Cay (and the Conched Out Bar :rotfl2:)

I love the top you wore to Palo too. I can't say I've never seen anyone wearing Pirate gear in there :rotfl: and we usually eat there on Pirate Night too pirate:

Mmm, the food at Palo looks delish, we love the Panna Cotta too, it our favourite

I look forward to your next installment :thumbsup2

Poor you, slipping on water is never nice. I absolutely love your pics, the beach looks fab. Am glad that you liked your meal as the pics looked fab. Your top was lovely, was it a US purchase?

Looking forward to the next day
Tina

Great photos again Claire. I've been thinking of booking Palo for dinner (or maybe brunch as it's an at sea day) on my birthday so it's nice to know the food is good in there.

I don't think it was wet because they had been cleaning, it was definately a spillage. I doubt the staff even knew about it, I was too upset & in too much pain to go and find a staff member so i hope no one else fell over. :guilty:

You should definately add DCL to your list, near the top. ;)

Thanks Tina.

I got my top from Evans website last summer, I got especially for Palo's. :)

Great photos again Claire. I've been thinking of booking Palo for dinner (or maybe brunch as it's an at sea day) on my birthday so it's nice to know the food is good in there.
FWIW I'd choose the brunch for a birthday celebration, David! It's really not like any other experience... :cloud9:

I think it's children going to the pools and hurrying back to their rooms - I've seen a lot of dripping kiddiwinks waiting for lifts... ;)

Now she tells me!

I didn't make it to Serenity Bay. :sad2: You can show me the ropes next January. ;)

Wow thanks hun, just a shame we couldn't get any of the stage but theres always next time. :thumbsup2
That's the beauty of a Disney cruise - there's always NEXT time!!!!
