Advice on Rooms with 4 teen girls

Our DD has asked us to take 3 of her friends to WDW for her 16th Birthday. We are an avid WDW/DCL family but her friends have only been to WDW once or not at all. Her dream is to share her love of WDW with them. And, we would like to make the trip special for all the girls and comfortable for DH and me.

Plans are to stay at Saratoga Springs (Home Resort) in a 2 bedroom. We may try to change resorts at the 7 month window. We've stayed at other DVC resorts in a 1 bedroom but never a 2 bedroom. We were hoping to get a second bedroom with 2 Queen beds but am wondering if any of the resorts offer that except OKW. And, more importantly, do all 2 bedrooms have 2 bathrooms?? Lastly, what is a lock-off?

We loved our stay at OKW last Spring but we stayed in the newest buildings and wondered if all of the units were that nice and spacious?

Thanks so much!

I did this last year with my daughter. Instead of going with my dh, I took my sister. My daughter invited three of her friends. We did have a 2 BDR dedicated at BCV. Dedicated do not have a separate entrance or kitchenette so more space for them. They also did not have their own balcony. This worked out great for us and the living room area was free for anyone to use early or late.

The only negative - and it did not become an issue - there was no hair dryer in the second bathroom.

Happy planning!

Lock off 2 bedrooms are a 1 bedroom and a studio with a connecting interior door. All lock off 2 bedrooms will have a queen bed and a double sleep sofa in the studio portion.

All of the dedicated 2 bedrooms (except at BCV) will have two queens in the second bedroom. The BWV have NO dedicated 2 bedrooms, so that resort is probably off the list. All 2 bedrooms there are lock offs.

VWL, BLT, OKW, SSR & AKV would all work for you. I would suggest you strongly consider BLT or AKV (Kidani) because those 2 bedroom villas have 3 full bathrooms. You can do the math on the value of that for your party yourself. ;) :teeth:

BCV has 25 dedicated 2 bedrooms with 2 queen beds in the second bedroom, but those tend to fill before the 7 month window opens. Most of the dedicated 2 bedrooms there have 1 queen bed and a queen sleep sofa in the second bedroom. If the girls would really love SAB, you could try to get a 2 bedroom there, but prepare to be on a waitlist, even if you are willing to accept the queen sleep sofa or the double sleep sofa for the second bedroom.

BLT & AKV (Kidani) have a sleep chair in the living room in addition to the sleep sofa. All 2 bedroom types have a queen sleep sofa in the living room. My advice is to keep the living room free if you can. It's better to keep that area open for those who want to stay up late or get up early. SOme quiet time for one or more of you could be important. Can't do that if the living room is someone's bedroom.

Good luck with the planning and have a wonderful trip!

Good luck - hope you all have a wonderful trip.

We have only stayed in a 2 bedroom once, because there are just 4 of us, DH, me and 2 DDs. We called last miniute and the only thing for the night was a dedicated 2 bedroom at VWL. I could not believe the space. I never thought how much more room there would be in the 2nd bedroom without the kitchenette and entry of a studio. It had a huge walk-in closet, one of he biggest 2 sink vanity areas that I have ever seen. It did not have it's own balcony, but since there was one in the living room and master, no issues there. I would definately try to get a dedicated 2 bedroom with 4 teenagers. I think the space difference is huge. Have fun! I hope one of my girls want to do this for their 16th birthday, I think it will be great.

Four 16 yr old girls in one room? That just screams OKW (dedicated two bedroom because of the huge closet and extra sink outside the bathroom in the second bedroom). I know that's what we were planning on when our son thought he might want to take a bunch of friends to WDW after HS graduation.

You can stay anywhere and get the two queen beds in the second bedroom (dedicated), except it may be hard at BCV (only 25 of them) and Jambo House and BWV have no dedicated two bedroom villas. Kidani does.

All -

Thank you so much for all the info - the dedicated 2 bedroom sounds like the way to go (if available). And, the intel on the 2 bedrooms with 3 baths is also great. This gives us lots to think about and more options to consider before the 11 month window & 7 month windows come into play.

And, the explanation about the dedication vice the lock-off (which I like for additional security reasons) was really helpful.

These are all lovely girls and I am so excited at the idea of pulling this off for DD.

Take care and thank you, again.
