Off we were headed to Adventureland, with every intention of making this our first stop -
Every good trip should start with a little bit of Jack right?
On our way to Pirates though another attraction was just about to start so we just had to stop.
The picture came out lousy, but that's in the tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki room. (Sung of course!) I love the singing/dancing tikis on the totems. I will admit here a fondness for the Tiki birds attraction, more so the original version than the under new management version WDW runs now. Still, I have to stop once per trip to see the show, if only so I get a chance to sing the theme song. It's easily one of my favorite Disney songs, and once you hear it, just try to get it out of your head.
You can all thank me later for putting it there.
Much as I enjoy the show, Disney really needs to do a bit of freshening up in here. Some of the birds are getting to look like well loved stuffed animals. I got my first glimpse of how busy the park was today, as the Tiki birds were playing to a nearly full house.
Once done with our visit to the aviary, we headed over to pirates to visit Jack. Sadly the pirate tutorial was just ending as we got there, and Jack was making a run for behind the scenes. The line for pirates was moving right along and we only had to wait about 15 minutes or so to ride.
By the time we got off, hunger was beginning to set in. It was getting close to 1:00 and I hadn't eaten anything more than a bag of cookies on the plane. I had really wanted to try Caseys or the Columbia Harbor House for lunch today. We didn't really want to head all the way back to Main Street in the crowds, and my friend didn't really want to go the Columbia Harbor House. We headed over to Pecos Bills. I love the burger bar with the mushroom so I wasn't too disappointed. I had the bacon cheeseburger with fries and a soda. Then I loaded it up with mushrooms. Yum!!!
Food porn!
Just a bit of a side note about the food porn. My first few days of the trip I didn't want to explain to my friend why I needed pictures of my meals, so I was snapping pics when she was away from the table.
So sneaky! Which is why I'm missing a few meals. Finally I just admited to what I was doing, and let her get a good laugh out of it. She thought I was nuts, but by the end of the week she was artfully arranging my place settings and volunteering her plate up for photography. Seriously the DIS is a collective. You can't help but get sucked into it.
Now well fed and feeling a new burst of energy we set off to ride BTMR. On the way there the Tiana riverboat show was just starting, so we found a spot on the bridge in Adventureland and hung out to watch.
It's a shame that the show is ending (has ended?). It was a lot of fun, and everyone around us seemed to really be enjoying it. I haven't seen the movie yet, but the guy playing the bad guy was fantastic. Very creepy, but the overall show was upbeat and fun. The riverboat was the perfect setting.
After the show ended we headed over to BTMR for our first big ride.
Or not.
