Today is exactly 11 months from my desired check-in date. We are brand new (not even done with paperwork yet) owners at BLT. Our guide said we could go ahead a make reservations.

Our plans are BWV from December 5-10, then check in to BLT on 10th and 11th.

Question-Do I have to wait until the 10th to make my BLT reservation since the vacation technically starts on the 5th?

I'm confused. Are you staying at BWV using BLT points? If so, you can't book that portion until 7 months out.

For BLT, yes, as of right now, it would be 2 separate reservations so your 11 month window at BLT begins from the first day of that reservation which is on the 10th.

No, you can call now to book your trip. However, if you only own BLT points, you will have to make the entire trip at BLT as you can not book BWV until 7 months before check in date.

And, early December is a really popular time for DVC and you want to be sure to have something booked, just in case there are no BWV rooms available at the 7 month mark.

I would call first thing at 9:00 am tomorrow and book BLT. Hopefully, you will be able to get what you want. Then, when you get to the 7 month mark, you can call back and switch those first few days from BLT to BWV.

Good luck and congratulations

Sandi,
Thanks for the tip. I told you I'm a newbie! I forgot that I would need to book BLT for the days before just in case BWV got booked.

I will call tomorrow. Is the phone call to MS generally time consuming? I will have to call during work and need to know how much time to expect

Any time I have called to book, it has taken no more than 10 minutes to get everything done.

Unless you get put on hold for an unsual amount of time, then it shouldn't be long at all.

Congratulations on your new purchase. That is the great thing about the Dis...all your questions can get answered!!! And, before you know it, you won't feel like a newbie at all!

Oh...and if for some reason you can't get the reservation you want, mention it to your guide. I have heard that sometimes they can work a little magic for new purchasers, and it certainly would not hurt to try if you need to.
Good luck!!

I can't remember the call being that long - maybe 5 minutes for a reservation? Now, if BLT is booked at the 11 month window, then the call will be longer as MS will give you some different options (book a certain number of days, different dates, waitlist, etc.). Be sure to have your Member ID# when you call as you will be asked for it.

The call itself shouldn't take very long. But you might be on hold for quite a while before you get to talk to MS. January is a very busy time for MS because so many DVC members like to visit in December. Many of them make their reservations as soon as the 11 month window opens.

Congratulations on your purchase and welcome home!

Congrats on your new purchase - we just joined DVC direct through Disney about 2 weeks ago.

Sandi makes an excellent suggestion. My guide got me hooked into a conference call with Member Services about 24 hours after we picked up the phone to join (i.e. I had given my credit card for the membership deposit but hadn't completed the required paperwork yet)... and was able to secure our first DVC reservation. It was a breeze and probably took all of 5 minutes. I would try your guide first? Good Luck! :goodvibes
