Just read the menu and it seems that everything is spicy and hot? Since we've never eaten there I need opinions, please. Is everything spicy hot? I'm not a too spicy kind of person. Please let me know if you think I should try someplace else (we do like mexican though)

We ate at San Angel in Sept. It wasn't for me. I like tex-mex food, and found the stuff on the menu to be too representative of real mexican dishes. I had the shrip dish..they were yummy but covered in a really bitter sauce. Not for me..I guess I'm not worldly:

SAI has to be the most blah/bland mexican food I've ever had. If you like mexican food, stick with your local place and do something else at WDW.

I loved the San Angel Inn, but as the pp said, it is not Tex Mex style. The dishes are more traditional.
What we had was not spicy hot. DH had chicken mole and it was more sweet, being it is a chocolate sauce and all.
I had the sirloin with black beans and plantains.......not spicy at all. Sirloin didn't have seasoning on it other than salt and pepper and the rest of the dishes weren't spicy either.
Both dishes were very good and we were pleased. The atmosphere is fantastic. A very romantic spot.

The only thing I found to be hot spicy was the salsa. We had it back in March and it was rumored to be out of a jar, I don't know. But that was a bit hot for me and I like spicy or hot. Since the last couple months it is rumored to be homemade now....????

If you like the sound of the menu and think you want to try it go for it.

I have to agree that my experience here with the food has not been that great so we decided not to eat here the last couple of trips. This trip, however, my husband asked to eat here again because it's just a fun atmosphere. Being from Cleveland, we don't have a local place where we can dine in a plaza that overlooks a river

My advise is try it at least once. It's fun. If you don't like your food, get a huge margarita!

I'm not a fan of super spicy either. Ate there in December and had a good lunch. Good chips and salsa (different from previous trips) and the enchiladas verdes were quite yummy. Plus, as others said, the atmosphere is pretty cool. Margaritas yummy too. Good luck!

You don't enjoy Shooters or some of the other run down joints on the Cuyahoga River down in the flats. (don't blame you I'm also from Cleveland).

As a few others have said, this place is not like your typical Tex/Mex that most of us visit at a restaurant around the corner. SAI serves an authentic Mexican menu. Some of the sauces such as mole sauce are not familiar for most Americans. I personally enjoy the Mole Poblano and the Combination Cozumel. But then again, I am a little different.

We used to before the Flatts turned into a toilet for the homeless . Hopefully at some point that will all get fixed.

I love that the food is more traditional then Tex-Mex. I wish the Italian was more authentic Italian then Americanized but that is besides the point. It have eaten there and while it isn't my favorite meal on the WS it was a good meal and I loved the atmosphere. Being more authentic then Tex-Mex means that the food is spiced but not spicy. I didn't find it hot and I don't like hot spicy food but I cook with a lot of spices and didn't find theirs too bad. It is all a mater of perspective though.
