DH absolutley loves these 2 drinks and as you can imagine they are both quite difficult to come by in the UK. You can get cream soda, but it's just not the same. Manged to get him some cans for christimas online but he asked if they are served on board. I wans't sure so said I would find out. If they don't I might ask Shirley to do a gift basket for him of all his favourite american sweets. ( reese pieces, hersheys, MD, root beer etc etc)

Thanks in advance for your help.

BM :thanks:

No to the Mountain Dew since it's a Pepsi product and Disney only does Coke. The Cream Soda though I can't answer. I don't think I have ever seen it on board but it seems like a good bartender might be able to make some for him.

Oh ok. Didn't realise that MD was a pepsi product. Oh well. That being said would DCL object to having a basket made up by shirley with it in it or taking it on as hand luggage?

As for getting a bar person to make cream soda - never even thought of that one.

thanks

DCL doesn't object to hand carrying beverages on board. Please don't put in your checked luggage though or someone might end up with some sticky clothes.
I have read lots of good things about Shirley and her baskets. That might be the way to go for you if you aren't going to be able to stop at a store on the way to the port.

Enjoy your cruise :)

I have used Shirley with every cruise for kids beach buckets and for floral.
Fantastic!

They will make whatever you can dream up including a six pack of Mtn Dew. As an aside, right now (at least in NC) pepsico is running a "throwback" promo with 70s style cans and soda (Pepsi and Mountain Dew) made with 'real sugar' instead of HFCS. If you are cruising soon, that might be a really special treat. Oh, I now see your cruise is a ways off. Pity.

I would go with the purchased cream soda. I don't know how a bartender would begin to replicate it - soda water with vanilla and simple syrup or superfine sugar?...

Thanks everyone once again for your valuble input. I'm sure there will be more question as my ticker ticks its way down.

I agree with this sugestion. We had Shirley put Cream Soda and Rootbeer in our basket last month (we can't get those in Germany either;)). It is so nice to have it there in teh cabin when you arrive.

While we're on the topic, does Disney consider Dr Pepper a Coke product? I'm pretty sure DH would cry if it's not stocked.

I was in Disney last week. I am a Dr. Pepper fan and had to settle for coke, which I don't care for.

He will need to bring his own or go without.

Dr. Pepper isn't a Coke or Pepsi product and it's carried by both in different regions and by different merchants, but Disney doesn't carry it.

Ahhh Mt Dew - the nector of life!

I have "water bottle" pockets on either side of my carry-on, so I will buy a couple of bottles at the airport (after security) to take on board.

The best is when we stop in Key West though. They have a very convenient CVS (pharmacy) where I can buy & carry on the ship all the Mt Dew I want!!! (And I will be making this stop in 34 days!)

The "main" Coke products are available free at the beverage station on deck 9 and in the dining rooms. Additional products are available at the bars in cans. However....they are limited in selection and a 4 pack of cans costs almost $12!

I tell me teen who loves diet Dr. Pepper that if she wants it, she carries it on board. Another good reason to rent a car or use a towncar service to get to the port! If you happen to be doing a western, you can also get it at the CVS at Key West.

We use to bring Pepsi onboard with us and it was always a hastle to get to a store to even buy it in FL. Last time we had Shirley make up a basket that included the pepsi and it was so worth it!

I always have to take my Diet Mt Dew with me. Racetrack gas station just 1 mile from Port is convenient stop to pick up carry on beer and soda.

Around here (in central NC), most restaurants and supermarkets treat it as a Coke product [even though it isn't], so that's why I wondered. Dr. Pepper always goes on sale with Coke, never with Pepsi (unless Pepsi happens to be on sale simultaneously). DH will drink Mr. Pibb, but only under duress.

We're driving to port, so if DH wants it he'll be carrying it on!
