Which value to choose?!?

Hello everyone!

All of a sudden I have realised how close our Disney holiday really is, and planning must commence!

I am currently doing 4 days at universal/seaworld (Royal Pacific), then 7 days at an unspecified value resort, then 3 nights at Beach Club Villas.

Which value do you rate and why? Does anyone know how easy it is to get a king size rather than two doubles? Which has the best feel/ upkeep/ amenities?

Votes and any advice would be appreciated!

Of the Value resorts, the All Star Sports and Music have the newest rooms, as they were recently refurbed. We stayed at both resorts last year, and the rooms looked great. From what I have read hear, the Movies rooms are looking pretty worn and are not in the best shape.

I think the Music is the best choice, as not only are the rooms among the freshest, they also have fun and games by the pool. They play games by the pool during the day, and show movies at night. Those things added to the fun feel of the resort.

I also like that the All Star resorts are a lot smaller than the Pop. The fewer people waiting for the busses the better! And contrary to what you may have heard, the All Star resorts rarely share busses. In my experience they have their own busses way more often than they share. Plus the resorts are right next door to each other, so even when they do share, it is a very short bus trip.

Have fun deciding!

I would think, if you request a King-Sized bed, it's probably likely that you'll receive your request. I doubt very many couples choose to stay at the Value resorts for various reasons.
It just seems more likely that the low price point would appeal most to those with kids, simply because they'll be spending more money on their vacation comparatively, because of the high cost of tickets. Even if they have the same amount of money budgeted as a couple without kids, more of that money will go towards tickets.

Obviously, people without kids do stay in the Value Resorts, (We were planning on staying in one last week before we canceled our trip) but they seem to appeal more to people with kids, which should make the availability of King-Sized beds higher.

I really don't know though, that's just my thought process. Saving the money might be worth it, even if you don't get the King-Sized bed.

As for particular Value resorts, we were going to stay at Pop Century requesting a Room in the 80s building, because we were going for my DH's birthday and he was born in the 80s. I thought it would be funny.

Of the All-Stars, Sports appeals to me the least, but I have no specific knowledge of the comparative services.

I like POP for the location. It's a bit more centrally located than the All Stars. But other than that, the Values are 99% the same to me. It's mostly a matter of what giant icon do you want to see when you step outside the room - A Jukebox? A Tennis Racquet? A Dalmation? Marracas?

I did just get back from AS Sports, which has refurbished rooms. The curved shower curtain rod was really nice....definitely makes the shower feel bigger!

DH and I have stayed at POP twice. We were very happy each time. Last trip I decided to try something different so we went to ASMu. We won't go back there. The room was fine but that is a resort that really punishes you for not paying for preferred. We were in the Rock Inn and it was just too far away from the main building. Next time we will go back to POP.

We have requested a king each of our three stays at values and have never gotten one. But I have read on these boards that some people have gotten that request most of the time. Make you request known on your reservation, but if it is REALLY important book a king (and pay extra) at a moderate.

They had me going on our just completed trip. Checking into Pop they said we had a King, Lakside, 60s - wow! hit on all our requests - CM taps taps on computer, call someone on telephone - oops don't really have it, mumble something about block rate I don't understand but its late and not a show stopper for us anyway - still, kind of cruel to let me think we had it, then take it away.

I had not done online since we were getting in late and I wanted to be able to negotiate if needed but maybe had I done online it would have been locked in earlier and not taken away - who knows?
