Just had a fantastic time at WDW with my DD. We stayed at the YC and were sprinkled with pixie dust upon arrival (thanks to someone very sweet)...we had booked CL, however, when we entered our room, found we were upgraded to a LV CL room. We were on the 5th floor right over SAB! It was an amazing view!

Here is the good news:

* The remodeled rooms were very nice.

* Unlike what I had read on the forums prior to our departure, we found the CMs all over to be very kind and helpful. The CMs at the YC Concierge and lounge were especially terrific.

* We were very pleased with the CL experience at the YC - again, I had read some negative reviews and was nervous - but, it was really great!

Morning offerings were several varieties of bagels and muffins, croissants, banana or pumpkin bread, hot oatmeal, hard boiled eggs, fresh fruit, yogurt, several types of juices, coffee, tea AND they had a machine that made Cafe Latte, Cappucino, etc. and offered different syrups to use in them as well!

Midday snacks were these amazing home made potato chips with a red pepper ranch dressing, several varieties of cookies, chocolate covered pretzels, swedish fish, banana chips, soda, coffee, etc.

We were not there for evening offerings except one night (last night) - they had pork potstickers, duck quesadillas, lobster salad, pb&j, apple slices with caramel dip, several varieties of cheeses and an olive tray. Plus all of the normal beverage offerings and beer/wine.

We never made it there for the desserts, unfortunately!

* The parks were in pretty good shape, cleanliness wise. I did see a few pieces of garbage here or there, but nothing that struck me as being really dirty. We never used the park bathrooms, so I couldn't tell you how they were.

* The hot dog buns at Casey's do not fall apart - we enjoyed one of these the night we arrived and were glad to find this was the case. We also found the buns (and burgers, yum!) at B&C to be fine as well.

* No problems whatsoever with the buses running regularly - although the drivers seemed to be struggling with the curbs a bit lol - we had several instances of them driving up on curbs while we were there....caught us as a bit funny.

* In general, people seemed friendly and polite. We only encountered a couple of instances where we found people to be a bit rude, but I wouldn't say this is any different than everyday life at home as well. Some people are just that way.

* The CP is amazing and if you have the chance, you must do it. This was our first time and I was really blown away. I'm really glad we booked the dinner package, though, because the standby line was quite long and I think only about half of the people actually received a seat.

Now for the not so good...

* I did find Mousekeeping to be lacking in quality. We had several issues with the bathroom cleanliness in our room that was resolved shortly after checkin. We also were not given clean sheets during our 6 night stay. They did change them the night we arrived and that was it.

* I was disappointed with the lack of Christmas decorations. We had never been during the holidays and after hearing so many great things about it, we had to go.....an example was MK - Main Street is absolutely beautiful, but once you reach the lands, you wouldn't really know it was holiday time at all. The most decked out park was DHS - I was really surprised by this, but they did do a great job at this park - the others, not so much.

* We decided at the last minute to buy tickets for the 12/15 MVMCP - it was fun and VERY crowded, but I would not do this again. IMO, it is not worth the extra cost. The parade was nice, but honestly, I thought the P&PP and MNSSHP parades were better - just my opinion. The fireworks were really cool.

* I cannot believe how busy the parks were. Everything led me to believe this would be a slower week (especially the crowd calendar of 4s & 5s), but not so. There were longer waits for all of the major attractions. We did use FP and even waited in some of them. It's just funny that there are reports that Disney isn't doing well, but you just wouldn't know it when in the parks.

That's all I can think of right now. We had a terrific time and none of the negative things listed above detracted from our vacation. We had a really great time.

If you have any questions, just let me know!

Not to rain on your parade but I am kinda lost with all the abbreviations...is there a table somewhere??? :confused3:sad1:

Thanks for the detailed review! I really appreciate it. We were at the BC CL a few months ago and the CMs were very helpful and the food was great (same exact stuff you described from the YC). Glad to hear the rooms turned out nice. :)

You were there for a week, and you never used the park bathrooms? Seriously?

From someone who has probably used EVERY park bathroom on property, I found this a bit unusual, too.

But, all joking aside, I appreciated your review and I think your YC stay sounded fantastic. I would love to see a picture of your view. NICE!

I went to the same MMVCP last year and I found it to be extremely crowded. I do like the Halloween party better, though.

I also love the candlelight processional. Isn't it great! I love the orchestra - they are so good.

I don't know why this would be so surprising....we spend most of our time at Epcot and DHS and stay a short walk away. We go back to the resort several times a day, whether for a break or snack or lunch, so we just go to our room.

I guess we are fortunate to not have to use every public restroom.

Your review of the YC was great.
What resorts did the YC buses pick up? Just YC and BC? Or do the buses also pick up at BWI, Swan, and Dolphin?

Most people don't notice the card in most hotel rooms now that states that in order to conserve, they will wash linens every 4th day or so; unless you desire changes more frequently. Anytime you want a change in linens, just strip the bed. Leave all your towels in the tub. You will get a change of linen.

Every fourth day would have been fine - we were there 6 nights and they were not changed at all. The only reason I knew that was because there were a couple of black dots on the sheets and a black stain on the pillowcase for one of the pillows that was there the whole trip.

It was not a big deal or I would have called, but it did seem odd to me that they had not done it.

They picked up and dropped off at BWI and S/D in addition to the YC/BC.

It was never an issue and we were always able to get a seat. I think the only time we waited for another bus was when leaving the MVMCP - we stayed right up until the end, though.

I hope this works, here are pictures of the view from our balcony on the 5th floor:

Hi!!! Just wanted to say my DH & I were just at YC Sun the 13th to Fri the 18th. Judging by your photos we were probably 2 or 3 rooms away from you. We were in room 5225. Glad you got upgraded to water view, it's my favorite. I loved those home made chips, too!! We really enjoy our stays here, too. It's hard to stay anywhere else after Yacht Club! :)

The pictures from your room are amazing. If it wasn't for the convenience of the monorail I might even consider forgoing our normal Poly stay and trying the YC.

Oh my gosh - isn't that funny - we were in 5235. Yes, it is hard to stay anywhere else - we were there in January and fell in love with it which is why we chose it again for this stay.

Just think about the convenience to two of the four parks, though.....You can walk to Epcot and DHS or take the boat to both Epcot and DHS.

The buses were really not a problem to MK or AK - yes, they do take longer than a monorail would, but not that much of an inconvenience. Of course, we spend the majority of our time at Epcot and DHS.

Thank you so much for your review, I'm 'switching' back to the YC after a couple of stays at the BWI - your review has made me feel so much better :goodvibes

Welcome home! Your review sounds great. I'm jealous about your upgrade. Sounds fabulous. We were at the YC exactly a year ago with a great view overlooking the lagoon and the Boardwalk. What a wonderful resort!
