Can anyone review this location? Thinking of staying a night or 2 over New years. We have young kids and will want to swim. We will not be going to any parks :sad2:

Would you compare this to any resorts at disney?

It has been almost a year since I stayed there.
My kids(10 and 13 at the time) really liked it.

You have to pay for parking.
There is also a "resort fee" so expect your rate to be higher that what you think.
The lobby is phenomenal. The kids loved looking around there.
The pool was big, with a small water slide and a play area. But it was not staffed. No lifeguards or even just someone walking around picking up towels and trash.
Food was expensive.
I would not want a atrium room with small children. Even though we loved sitting on our balcony and looking at the lobby -it was loud and sometimes had musicians or parties in there late.

I have not been to ICE -but I understand from the podcast that it is worth seeing.

Overall -I would stay again -but only with a discounted rate and only a couple of nights.

I hope this helps.

Stayed here for just 1 night in April 2009 - paid $89 through Priceline (plus the parking and resort fees).

While the food was expensive, we loved the room. It was gorgeous. The pool area was fantastic. The family was almost too warm for us, but at least it was heated. The adult pool was not as warm, but still nice. There was free mini golf and just walking around the hotel was fun.

We only had one meal at the hotel, due to the prices ($50 for 2 adult breakfast buffets). I would definitely stay there again, especially if we could pay $89.

We were just there in October for a conference.

Yes, the Gaylord is a gorgeous property, beds are comfy and service is great.

Pool area is nice and relaxing - not huge but very 'doable'.

Food is massively expensive, however, you do have a fridge of a decent size in the room (no microwave).

Paying for parking.

Paying for resort fee.

Hallways are massively long depending on your room location. If you do have a rental car, I would highly suggest trying to get a room close to the entry of the parking area. You can valet but more $$$.

As we were not going to the parks this trip (co-worker & I), it was fine and had everything we needed. I had just stayed there in February so I had experience with location (and it is also virtually identical to Gaylord Texan - 3 conferences there) and getting to DTD & outlet mall from there. However, in February when we were there on a vacation I won, we had parking expense at hotel as well as parking expense again at Disney (as we didn't want to rely on shuttles). So you get hit double if you are vacationing for the parking.
