I'm considering taking a train from New York to Orlando.
I'm wondering which is the best train station to pick as my destination.
The Silver Star stops in Winter Park and Kissimee.
The Silver Meteor stops in Orlando.

I wonder which of the 3 stations would be my best choice - in terms of proximity to WDW and safety. I'm willing to go further away, if the station is significantly safer. I've heard that Orlando itself has some dangerous areas. I wonder if that includes where the train station is.

Does anyone know?

I can not be certain but I am sure that your best option would be kissimmee train station as downtown orlando can be a bit ruff if you are not in the correct area , also Kissimmee is much closer to Disney world then orlando itself so would be easier for you

You can always hop in a taxi wherever you get off - what time of day you arrive may also be a factor. 3am in the morning is not so great wherever you are!!

I posted this question on the disunplugged board and got some really great information from a guy who uses the train all the time.

And yes, the kissimmee station is much safer than the orlando station, albeit with fewer services.

But i can always arrange to be met by car and then rent when i'm onsite.

so that's great. :goodvibes

The Winter Park Station is one stop further than downtown Orlando and is right there on beautiful Park Avenue - beats Kissimmee by a country mile!

they claim winter park has even fewer services than the kissimmee station...
but it's a possibility..
i was in winter park 2 years ago when i had to make an emergency visit to a dentist (got the name from the disney hotel info)..
it is a very lovely city (and the dentist was excellent and didn't take me for a lot of money -which he certainly could have in that situation)..

If all you are doing is getting off a train how many services do you need? Pre-book a taxi company before you get on the train and you should be fine.
