Is it easy to get a taxi from our disney hotel to a international drive mall, there and back?

yes very easy, i am sure reception will sort you out with a booking. Taxis are plentiful on international drive so should not be hard to make the return. Just make sure you are getting the licenced (marked)cabs for safety obvious safety reasons

Thanks for your reply, do you know the rough cost? We want to do a bit of shopping and thought it would be a great way to do it.

Also anyone know how to get to walmart?

It cost us between $20 and $30 to get to I-Drive from SSR this April depending on route/traffic. :)

There are several Walmart stores - best bet is to ask which one is best/nearest either at the hotel or check with the taxi driver.

We got a bus to DTD and picked up a licensed taxi from there, this was by recommendation of a Cast Member at ASSp.

Apparently it's cheaper to get a taxi from there than your hotel, not sure how true this is, but it's what we did and it was fine for us :)

We stayed at all stars in july and used taxis quite a lot. they cost between 33-40 dollars each way before tip. comming back we just went into the closest hotel and booked a yellow cab using the phones in reception.
It might seem a lot, but for us it was much cheaper than car hire and parking fees. hope this helps:cheer2:

Thanks for all you help and tips.

We are staying at Disneys Port orleans resort which i think is close to Downtown disney.

If you are staying at Port Orleans (like we did last time) it is great because you are on the outskirts of Disney too.

We went to the Nike shop at the Premium Outlets one day and simply got the Port Orleans boat to DTD and then it cost us about $17 for a taxi to the the shops. We also called Mears from our room and got a taxi to Seaworld which was about $20-25.

Best thing to do is always ask a price in advance from the driver, they know the routes well enough to give this and it saves surprises!

Also, if you are comfortable with it, you can use the Lynx bus service which is $2 a person and has stops at DTD and the Transport centre www.golynx.com - that transport is very cheap and covers large areas - you can use the journey planner on their website.

Just to add to the above, to get to drive you need to catch Lynx bus 50 from DTD to Seaworld (every 30 mins) then Lynx bus 8 (serves I-Drive every 15 mins from Premium Outlets and Seaworld) or theI-ride trolley (see here).

If you fancy venturing to the Florida Mall, Lynx bus 111 goes from Hotel Plaza Blvd/Lake Buena Vista Drive every hour.

We do the same. If you get a taxi to the Premium Mall it will drop you where the I-Trolley does its I-Drive stops and those tickets are dirt cheap - so long as you can carry all your shopping and manage okay on a bus ;)

We paid around $12-14 each way plus tips last time. Hit peak hour traffic on the return so it was more expensive. There are just 2 of us so if you have enough people it may still be cheaper to get a taxi all the way to where you are going rather than adding on bus tickets etc.
