Spending just 24 hrs in WDW: which resort and which restaurants?

Next October we will be disembarking the Disney Magic after a transtlantic cruise and we have allowed ourselves one night in WDW - because we are only there 24 hours I would like to stay on site to save time, and also to be able to use the Magic Express from the port. We will visit one park - and it will likely be Magic Kingdom, and the following day before we fly we will go to Downtown Disney.

We will be looking for a nice sit down restaurant in the evening, either in Magic Kingdom or one of the nearby resorts. The following day we will need lunch at Downtown Disney.

So the questions are these: if you only had 24 hours in WDW, which resort would you stay at and which restaurants would you choose to eat in? (no kids travelling with us)

I am hoping for some inspiration as I am finding it very difficult to choose.

If you are going to MK then I would stay at GF for the convenience of being so close. I would eat at Naccoosees which is on the lagoon and is very nice.

I would eat at Earls for lunch at DTD as it is the best

lagoon view at the Poly - just because that is my favourite place ever!! and I'd eat at O'Hanas fo convenience and for their dessert!! (Of course my view is quite pointless as I have yet to afford the lagoon view and yet to eat at O'Hanas - so its purely based on what other people on the Dis have told me!!)

I'd either stay at the Poly or GF, as they are close to MK. Another vote for 'Ohana- we had a fantastic meal there!

I'd stay at any of the hotels on the monrail loop so that you can get to mk easily and quickly. I think i would eat at ohanas.

If it was me i'd go for GF, I really love the style. But i think you'd love the poly, maybe with a meal at O'hana. x

I also would want to be close to Magic Kingdom and on the monorail route so the Grand Floridian or Polynesian would be my choice.

Nice restaurants at both, I would check out the menus and see which you prefer.

I would stay at the Grand Floridian, Bay Lake Tower or the Contemporary (I didnt think much of the poly to be honest) or Wilderness Lodge.

For a nice dinner I would either go with Artist Point at Wilderness Lodge (delicious food, romantic and quiet) or the Wave at the Contemporary (fantastic food again, and an excellent location next to Magic Kingdom for a quiet dinner that isnt too expensive).



I do love Ohana's but it depends if you want a bit of romance or fun

Thanks everyone - some great suggestions - I think I am leaning towards the Poly or Wilderness Lodge - and I will check out all of the menus in the places you have suggested to see which one we prefer. Exciting for me as I have never stayed on site or eaten in a high end restaurant in WDW !!!!

Would have to be Lagoon view room at the Poly for us, with dinner at Kona Cafe (went last year before MNSSHP & food was great!!). For a meal at DTD the next day try the Wolfgang Puck Express at Marketplace. Counter service food & prices but all cooked fresh in an open kitchen. Absolutely delishious & to top it off they serve the BEST dessert ever...CREME BRULEE
We visit every time!!!

I think Wolfgang Puck Express will be the choice for the Downtown Disney restaurant for sure - I have such glowing reports about that Creme Brulee that I will have to try it.

My choice, particularly as you'll have no children travelling with you, would be to stay at Bay Lake Tower with dinner at The Wave's bar (which is nicer than the restaurant, in my opinion).

For lunch at DTD, I'd go for either T-Rex or Paradiso 37.

I'm with Deb - a stay at Bay Lake Tower would be fantastic for your one night

T-Rex at DTD is great so I would definitely try and fit in a meal there, if you can.

I'd stay at BLT or the Contemporary for the easy walking access to MK and I would eat at the Cali Grill or Narcossees.

DTD it would Earl for us but WPE if you wanted more of a 'proper meal'
