Good tips for toddler traveling to Disney by car?

We are headed to DW in Jan. 2010. My DD will just be turning 3 and my DS will be 8.

We are driving down this time. I am not worried about my DS-he will be fine with his new DSi Santa is bringing him, and actually falls asleep quite often in the car. He is my easy kid, LOL.

However, my DD is another story! Here is what i have for her already:

DVD player
Leapster (getting in advance so she will have a chance to figure it out before hand)
Coloring books/Color Wonder goodies
Stickers to decorate envelopes for Mousekeeping

any other good tips for a toddler on a 2 day trip?

I'll be anxious to see what people come up with. We are doing the same thing in September with DD3 and DS1 and DD1 (twins). So far, they all have been very good when it comes to traveling, but so far our longest trip has been about 8 hours.

To top it off, my DD3 doesn't really care to watch movies in the car a whole lot. She'll watch one then she's done for the rest of the day. I know we'll be bringing crayons and coloring books and other other toys that may interest them. Should be fun.

I have two boys and we drive NY to Florida often....my best tip:

place a large piece of luggage between the two children...they can't see, talk, poke, smack, hug, bug, kick, or tweek each other....

serously...this is what we do!!!


Also, earphones for the kids DVDs....so that they can't hear each other!!!!

Actually, my husband and I talk the whole time down....we love to drive...when was the last time you got to talk with your loved one for any extended amounts of time?

We also like a satalite radio....during a break from talking, we listen to comedy! And laugh some more!!!!

collect toys from kids meals - like McDonald's happy meals - you can wrap them individually and give them to her every so ofter. This was always a hit with DD's when they were younger - of course it means that mom or dad get to eat the meals from now until the trip.

My DD's also liked to play with pipe cleaners - you can get them in many colors at the craft store.

Magnetic letters and number are fun - use a cookie sheet

My daughter had just turned 2 the last time we drove to Florida from MI. My 5 year old was fine, but the 2 year old needed a little help.

The best thing that we did was to do most of our driving at night. I deprived her of her nap the day we left and the first half of the trip was quiet.

I also packed special snack and toy bags for each of the kids that were brought out at specific times. One to start the trip, one the next morning, one for meltdown emergencies. This went over really well.

We also did the dvd movie thing for a little while. This provided a bit of limited entertainment but didn't last long at all.

Overall, the first to suggestions were the most helpful for us. The trip went pretty smooth. The trip home was a little rougher b/c we didn't leave at night. But even then, we are willing to do it again.
