If you don't have time to read the whole newsletter, here are the highlights for us wish families...

They are offering a 45 minute Cessna (airplane) ride over Central FL for the wish kid and two add'l passengers. Contracted with Mauiva Air Tours.

They have an Express Start breakfast option available at the Ice Cream Palace, through Holiday Inn. Cinnamon rolls and omelets are the highlights.

The new pool and water garden areas are open, since Oct 24. The pool is a zero-entry pool good for access by those who have trouble with steps.

I haven't even been yet, and I'm already in love with GKTW!!!:cloud9:

Look at you with all of the breaking news!! :)

I knew about the pool...but the rest of that is news to me!

Things are always improving over there! :thumbsup2

I am going to have to go check that stuff out when I am there in January!

Thank you all for coming to my rescue today, by the way!

It has worked out in a VERY GOOD way for our Wish Families.

If you are going to be going on your wish trip in the next couple of weeks...make sure you get a code from me before you leave.

You will find SIGNIFICANT savings. ;) I won't say it... but you will have no trouble affording it. ;)

But we can keep that just over here on the nice thread. :thumbsup2

Would you be so kind as to email me the code. I have every intention of purchasing the photo pass...nothing is more precious to me then photos in particular of my Warrior Princess. My email is analiz0211@yahoo.com.

Thanks!

Don't worry, I won't be capable of filling your shoes until, well, never. :lmao: I saw the newsletter link first thing this AM since I happened to be on Facebook a lot today. My husband got injured at work last night and everyone was bugging me with questions. (He's fine, btw, just the end of his middle finger in jeopardy of falling off if it doesn't heal):scared: Who needs that last knuckle anyway!? I'll be nice and NOT post those pics. :thumbsup2

OMG I just told my husband about the Cessna rides over Central FL and he wants to know when they will be offering the Richard Petty Driving Experience to the Wish kids and their dads:sad2:

Actually that's pretty amazing. Matty'd love that!

Pamela:santa:

p.s. Melissa...YIKES about your husband's finger! Hope he's ok.

That's funny! My DH would love driving school too. We were talking about the flying and I said well, we'll have to figure out who will sit out on that one, and he said, Phoebe. :lmao: I am actually nervous about her doing it because I've flown in those little guys before and they are LOUD. Phoebe would probably be freaked out by it. I would love to give her the opportunity though. I'll have to think about it some more....

Thanks guys. He's on Vicodin so he's okay. :goodvibes It did go through the bone and nail and everything so I'm a little worried about it healing, but we'll see.

The plane ride looked cool, but the options are endless. I felt a bit overwhelmed with choices. At orientation they will tell you about the dinner shows, extra amusemenet parks, and other things they can get you tickets for. The time goes so fast and there are so many things to enjoy!

We didn't do the express breakfast because my kids were too happy with the Gingerbread House. The GIngerbread House was fast enough for us this morning. BUT if you need a way to keep your child from seeing the carousel in the morning and begging to ride it - the express breakfast would accomplish that!

My children were delighted with the pool and simply couldn't get enough of it!

You're going to have a blast!

Cathy

We've decided on a trip to Hawaii for Emily. It won't be until summer but if you don't mind, I will be checking back here often. I love reading about all of the wishes!

I assure you they are not big shoes...

Actually...I really do have big feet! But that is a whole different story! :rotfl2:

It takes us all to make this work! Supporting each other...posting...If it was just me, it would be one boring conversation!

I am so sorry about your husband's finger! And a work injury. :faint: What a significant pain. No pun intended.

Oh no! That sounds just AWFUL! I will add him to my prayer list.

I'm sure Emily will have a wonderful trip! And of course you're welcome to stick around and check out the wish trips. We love having other families read along!

Hi...new here. My son Brian (6) suffers from cystic fibrosis. He has had a very rough last few months--port infection, surgery, surgical site infection, pneumonia, etc.... We have just started the process for Make a Wish. They are coming to meet him early next week. Brian's wish is to go a Disney Cruise, they asked me to have some dates in mind for them. My question is How soon could this be??? I don't want the kids to miss any school, so I would pick weeks like Presidents week or Easter week. Is this too soon???

Hey Maroo!!! I decorated for Dax, did you?

He he!

YES!

Actually...I have the tree up...but no ornaments or lights yet. I will be back home on Thursday evening and will finish it up!

Will you please post that link here??

:welcome: to the Wish Trippers thread!

How long really depends on the state and how many kids they have on the list to get a wish...and how many request a cruise...etc, etc.

I would say give them your first pick of dates and if they can't swing it, they will let ya know.

Make a Wish is able to grant wishes really quickly if needed...so hopefully they can take care of you guys quick! But I don't think it is an unreasonable request.

:goodvibes

Let us know how it goes! :)

Maroo....I can't believe I have to keep regiving you this link :)

We were strongly considering a Disney cruise. My DD's wish granter was here in Sept and she said it would probably be Jan or Feb if we wanted to do a cruise. Our chapter seems to be a busy one so you might still be able to look at Pres. Day or Easter should have a very good chance. If your son is not in immediate danger, and you feel strongly about keeping the kids in school I imagine they would be fine with that. It might mean waiting until summer, though. We ended up choosing Disneyworld and it looks like it'll be in April, but we are waiting for official dates. Keep us posted!

Im so sorry Brian has had a rough few months. My daughter (10) has Cystic Fibrosis too. She doesnt have a port but she ha a G-tube and has spent too much time in the hospital especially the last 3 years! Im really not sure about the time lines and I think each foundations office is a littledifferent. They are very good about working around dates that you pick though! It his trip but they want it to be perfect for your family. Our chapter said that they like to have their wishes completed within 6 months. Good luck and have fun in the process!!:yay:

Thanks for the welcomes!! He really wants to do a cruise. We did a 7 night Western last year and he was getting over an exacerbation when we left. Well the sea air must have loosened up everything in his lungs b/c his cough was horrible!! We were supposed to stop in Grand Cayman but b/c of the weather we could not.....lucky for us b/c he was running low on medication and our new stop in Key West allowed me to contact his doctors and get medication refills!! He was weaning of them when we boarded so I packed what I thought he would need!! (lessoned learned...always bring extra!!!)

Normally I wouldn't mind pulling the kids out of school, but Brian has missed so much already this school year and the winter is not even here yet!!!

I'll pick some dates and see what happens!! They told me to look at 7 night cruises and they don't have any over the summer b/c the Magic is going to Europe!!

I'll keep you posted!! Glad i found this thread!!
