Does curbside check-in cost extra on NW/DL

Leaving tomorrow night on NW out of MSP and wondering if it cost extra to check our (hopefully) one bag curbside. I assume you do tip, but is there a fee?

Seems like this would be much quicker since we will have already checked in online and printed boarding passes.

Thanks!

Laura

Until somebody with absolute knowledge responds, I would suggest that you expect to pay $2 per bag and be pleasantly surprised if there is no charge.

Not the same thing at all, but JetBlue in Boston charges $2 per bag for curbside check-in. I gave the Skycap a $5... and my bag was the third one off the plane when we arrived in Las Vegas. Could be coincidence...

There is a $5 surcharge on each of the first two checked bags when checking in via ticket counter, kiosk, or curbside. There is no surcharge for bags prepaid during online check-in at delta.com.

http://www.nwa.com/travel/luggage/checked.html

Effective for tickets purchased on or after July 16, 2009, for travel on or after August 4, 2009, customers who check in and pay bag fees at an airport kiosk or with an agent will incur a $5 surcharge for the first and second checked bags. Customers who check in and pre-pay bag fees on nwa.com or delta.com will not incur this surcharge.

HUH??? On top of the $15 per bag fee?????? WTH?????

For the record, I prepaid for my bags on NWA out of Orlando, got to the curbside checkin, and not only was I not charged a fee, they didn't even check my receipt to prove I paid the bag charge. I have a feeling there is some side dealing going on with the curbside people. Tip them 5, maybe even 10 dollars a bag, and you might find yourself saving money over the normal bag fees.

It might have been a one time thing. Next time I fly, I'm going to just show up curbside and see if they will do it again. If they ask for my receipt, I'll just ask if I can "pay here" and give them a good tip. We'll see if that works

Only if you don't prepay. Many airlines are charging $20 now, with a $5 surcharge if not prepaid.

I'm sure it comes up on their computer that you already paid. They have to access your record to print the tags. I have elite status with a couple airlines, it comes up on their screen that I don't have to pay.

I am planning on prepaying our baggage fee online, but just wondered if there would be an additional curbside fee. Hopefully not. Thanks!

We used Delta on our Aug. trip. We prepaid for the luggage when we check-in on-line - $15/bag. If you check the bags at the airport (either curbside or in the terminal) you will pay $20/bag. You don't have to show a receipt since it is in the computer that you paid. We took our bags to the curbside counter and the agent got our baggage claim tags for us and then we took our luggage inside to the drop-off area. We tipped the guy at curbside $5 for our bags. If you are staying at a Disney hotel you will be able to pay for your checked bags 24 hrs. before checking out. They will have information in your room on how to do it - just have a cc handy, your confirmation no. or flight info, and a pen/paper to write down your confirmation no. You then take that info to the airline counter in the lobby at your Disney resort on the day of check-out and they repeat the check-in process and will take your luggage and print your boarding passes. It all is very easy.

Yes, it is $5 more per bag to check them in at the counter/curb unless you prepay online.
