Hi
we are staying at the regal sun resort next year for 9 nights before
transferring to hard rock hotel for 5 nights. Not sure whether to get a car or not. Has any one stayed at the regal sun- what is their transport like- where does it drop you at the parks?

I can't answer you specifically on the Regal Sun transport, but I can tell you that the non Disney hotels are nowhere near as regular as the Disney transportation system.

Do you plan your days and stick to your schedule or do you prefer to go with the flow and wing it? If you like the flexibility and don't know where and exactly what time you are willing to commit to leaving the parks on any given day, or if you plan to park-hop, you may be better with your own car. Having said that, if cost is a factor, remember that the theme parks charge $14 per day for parking so that is an extra expense over and above the car rental charges.

I would disagree with this. I have stayed at the DTD Hilton many times and recently at the Grand Floridian. I actually found the DTD hotels better as I knew when they were due. Maybe we just had a run of bad luck at the GF but I spent copious amounts of time just standing at the bus stops waiting and not knowing when the bus would arrive. The DTD buses are every 30 mins at the same time (yes sometimes they are late but not that often).

For some bizarre reason, the Deluxe Resorts at Disney seem to get more compaints about bus service than the others, particularly the DVC and those on the monorail. I don't know if that is real or percieved. We may have just been really fortunate, but we have never had any problems with Disney transportation.

I guess it depends on your plans and your expectations.

We only used bus service once at OKW, 20 mins waiting in the August heat was not fun.
We also found it a nightmare at ASMovies but it was Xmas peak week.

As for Regal Sun, stayed there for 2 nights in August, it is only a 2-3 min walk across to DTD bus station so you have option of the Hotels transport or Disney transport.

Personally I would have a car wherever I stayed, we don't like any of the buses but others manage with it no problems.
