Has anyone done this? Is sounds like a good idea. Can you get drinks or snacks on the beach or carry from a nearby takeaway? Any info appreciated.

Thanks.

Absolutely. We did this about a month ago on our recent trip. Kids spent a couple of hours at the Neverland kids club at the Poly while DW and I had a nice dinner at Kona Cafe (so lovely to have a meal with just the two of us as a special occasion).

We then picked the kids up and wandered down to the beach, grabbed a couple of loungers and laid back and waited for the fireworks. You could grab food or drinks from the quick-service place at the Poly, i'm sure. We were also able to watch the electrical water pageant while we waited, and the kids loved this as they'd never seen it before. This it happens around 8.30-9pm or so most nights, then moves on to the Grand Floridian.

In fact, it was almost a perfect evening, until we stopped at one of the shower/foot rinse places by the pool on the way out to wash the sand off the kid's feet. DD aged 4 presses the wrong tap and proceeds to drench her dear brother aged 6 with the overhead shower...one of those 'you've been framed' moments if ever there was one :)

Would do it again in a heartbeat (the fireworks that is, not the impromptu shower).

Yep, we stayed there last month and watched them from the beach a few times.....it is a lovely spot to watch them from.

You can grab food & drinks from Captain Cooks (counter service restaurant) & as PeeBee said you also get to see the Electric water pageant beforehand too.

Is the Electrical Water Pageant before the fireworks? We're going in January and are trying to coordinate eating at Ohana followed by viewing the fireworks from the beach and watching the Water Pageant.

Hello what exactly is the electric water pageant? Something else not sure about :lmao:

I have not stayed at the Poly since 1999, but I would walk out onto the beach then and watch the fireworks and the water pageant.

Below is a link to another thread. If you go to post #324 there is a pic of some of the water pageant. Keep in mind it is all done to music and is not all lit at the same time. Fun to watch.

To the pp on my last trip (10/21-10/26) the pageant was before the fireworks, but I'm not sure if it was that way because MNSSHP was taking place that night or if it is always this way. I'm sure someone else can answer your question better.

The water pageant could be before or after Wishes depending on which order they do the resorts in. Sometimes they do GF first - others they will come back and do it after the fireworks. According to the lady driver of our Wishes Cruise it is dependant on the wind :confused3

You can get information from the front desk at the Poly on times for the Electric Water Pageant when you get there but it is usually 9pm. I think it moves depending on the time that Wishes is showing
I am visiting in May and have booked dinner at the Kona Cafe for 7.20pm. We then hope to go to the beach to watch the EWP followed by Wishes.
Does anyone know if you can take cocktails from the Tambu lounge outside?
