How have you gotten a # 2 or 3 boarding pass?

So I guess the days of one huge line snaking through the terminal early on are over? :rotfl:

On our last DCL we were on the 1st bus leaving MCO to the port (9:30am) and I believe we were 4's.

Yes, that problem is eliminated but another one cropped up with the new system. Tons of people will linger around the entrance to the queue to board the ship. We have been boarding #2 the last 3 cruises and we literally had to muscle our way through the crowds to get to the boarding area.

Yeah, that is totally annoying-- they'll call 2's and people with 6's stand up and head to the entrance :confused3

first you get to the port early. If we are not at the podium outside waiting for it to open, then we must not be sailing that day!

As you go up the escalator you see this:

Look for the person holding what looks like index cards, they dont automatically go to you sometimes, so as soon as you crest the top of the escalator go find that person and get a card.

If you do, it will probably look like this:

Do you have to seek out these people as well if you are a suite guest? I was under the impression that they were able to board a little before the masses. Selfishly I was looking forward to getting some of those empty ship shots like some PPs got. ;) We're not planning on arriving until about 10:30-ish because of that as well as we're not looking for an upgrade. I get really anxious around crowds is the biggest issue for me not arriving too early. It took a lot of DIS convincing to even book a cruise.

So how does one avoid the masses when coming from WDW? We are planning on spending a couple of days at Port Orleans, but I have heard bad things about taking the Disney bus from the resort (getting to port late).

This will be our first cruise and I want to be able to get onboard as early as possible to enjoy every minute. Is it better to take a private car? Wouldn't that be more expensive for a family of 3 than taking the bus from the resort to the port, then the port to MCO?

No, you dont. You go to the roped off end of the terminal. When they are ready to board you go through a side door thats right there instead of through the ears. They send through the family of the day, handicapped, then suite guests.

Then the general boarding begins.

Not through the ears? :sad1: HEY! I cry foul! ;)

Yea, its something they just started doing. Previous years we got to go thru the ears. Kind of a let down... but what are ya gonna do?

On our last cruise we drove to port and we were about the 4th vehicle in line. We drove up to the curb where I dropped off my DW and DD off with the luggage. They proceeded into the terminal while I parked and they got a #4 boarding pass. I know it doesn't make much of a difference, but would we get a lower number if they lined up by the fence while I waited in the vehicle line by myself?

We did for our Spring Break cruise in April. We left the Radisson about 10 am in our rental car. DH dropped off us off with the luggage, then went to return the rental car. We walked in, went right through security and got our card. There was no one in line. By the time we checked in DH was there with us.

I have been on 5 Disney Cruises - four of those times we had a 2 boarding pass. The last time I went, I was with a Dis friend and our daughters - the four of us sharing one room. We got there early and went to the CC check in. There was an older woman handing out tickets - she had the #2's on the top of her cards - she looked at us and shuffled past her 2's and handed us 4's. I politely asked if we could have the 2 boarding pass and she did give them to us bus she did not seem happy about it. The four of us were dressed in Disney gear with our CC bags from our cruise the month before and very smiley!

Omgosh... this just seems rude to me. I guess... I don't understand how they hand out passes but to thumb pass the 2s in front of you seems a little rude to me.

NOT defending it at all especially since you were smiley! :):lovestruc I wonder if she was hanging on to a few of the 2s for people new to the whole cruising experience? Not that you can tell at a glance, but if you have CC bags you've obviously done it before. Again, NOT defending it, just wondering if perhaps that was her "system". I'm sure all CMs have their own system or criteria they like to use. :confused3 Who knows.

When we last cruised on the Wonder, we used DCL transportation from the airport and were able to check in and receive our KTTW cards there. We were given boarding passes #2.
someone said from a previous post that they wont' let you in the Wonder earlier than 1 pm. Did you find that to be true? Because I am planning on arriving at around 10 am for my Nov cruise!

We have gotten a 2 everytime we've sailed--except when we stayed in a suite, and that is an automatic 1.

We always arrive pretty early and there are hardly any people there.

The card you get will depend on the cast member you get it from. Some grab the top of the pile (2's and 3's) and some grab further down. Last cruise I was standing in line waiting to check in with a 2 and so were the people around me. This man got in line with a 4 and when he noticed we all had 2's he said his wife was going to kill him. It was hilarious!

I wonder if she thought a 4 was right for your since there were 4 people in your party? I'm not kidding, there are a few older employees there that really seemed pretty lost.

So if you arrive early just to get an early boarding number, and they don't board until 1pm, what are you doing for those 2 hours?
