Hi we leave in 33 days for the THV at SSR. There hasn't been too much about the THVs recently. Anyone just back with tips, experiences or anything else we might want or need to know?

We enjoyed a wonderful week in a THV last month. The photos really don't do it justice IMO. Absolutely loved it.

Be happy to answer any questions.

Do you remember your room number? was it convienient to the pool, boat dock etc. ?

That's what I'm trying to figure out--should I request to be by the pool.

I don't normally give out villa numbers but ours was convenient to the pool (which we didn't use), dock and Southern bus stop.

Stopher posted this map of THV:

I think the Northernmost villas are the farthest from those things but in turn they have the big advantage of being closest to the gate. Our one and only frustration at THV was waiting behind buses at the Southern bus stop. If your villa was near the exit, that would not be an issue. It wasn't a big deal but rather a minor annoyance.

The walk to anywhere in the villas is not bad IMO.

We debated what to request and in the end asked to have a water view. We had it in spades and loved it. My DH thinks he would enjoy a golf course view as well.

You both are so lucky to be going to THV. They are so special IMO.:wizard:

We were in a THV directly across from the pool, near the walking path to the Grandstands. We had a nice view of the golf course and SSR. We were very happy with our location.

We were in #7026 and it was perfect. Close to everything AND a river view!:goodvibes:thumbsup2

How lit up is it at night? Are the walkways, ramps and porches well lit when returning at night.

Yes, without being intrusive. The Imagineers really outdid themselves at THV IMO.

We just returned from a 5 night stay at the THV. Our family absolutely loved them!! Can't say enough how impressed we were and how spoiled we now are. For us, the THV are the preferred place to stay. We made no requests upon checkin and were assigned up front. We had our own car, so in and out was quite the breeze. We used the busses with no problem. The only minor complaint is if you are driving and you get stuck behind a bus, there is nothing to do but wait it out. Not a very long wait but goes with the flow of such a secluded area. We walked to the boat dock and had that to ourselves. Also the only people on the boat as it took us to the drop off in PI. You do have to be a little careful when walking on the street for when you come upon the bends in the circle, just make sure the kids are walking on the side for there is no real notice if there is a car/bus coming towards you. The room itself is done real nicely. If your a fan of the woodsy outdoors this is your place. Lots of wood details throughout the room. TV's in each bedroom and a second bathroom was quite priceless for us. We felt out in the middle of nowhere, but knew all too well only minutes from anything. It was rather quiet and our car was close. Staying up front of the area means walking may be a bit to the main SSR pool. We found it easier to get in our car and just drive over. We did take the bus a few times with little wait.
In the end, we had a great time and look forward to going back. I have pictures I just have to figure out how to load them as I am rookie with this kind of stuff. Any questions I will try my best to answer. If anything, enjoy your trip. It's so nice to be in the Magic of Disney in a nice place as the THV.

I'm so glad to hear all the positives! I made our ressie the first day they were available, and then agonized over it until I saw the first trip report. Can't wait! Now..if we can only keep the flu at bay for a few more days....::yes::

Thanks again for your positive feedback. I too booked the first day reservations were taken back in Feb. and then stressed abit about possibly changing the reservation. We leave in 28 days and can't wait.

Hope you can answer these 2 questions. How far is the walk from THV to Grandstand and is it quicker to get off bus at Grandstand and walk over to the THV or get of the bus and take a bus to THV?
Thanks for your help.
