Personal opinions please on if good or bad for :-

Hoop de hoo
Mickey backyard BBQ
Aloha dinner

(Think there is only three I can use the ddp for - if wrong please let me know)

Thank you :goodvibes

Done Hoop twice, we love it, great airconned building and my type of food but no characters.
Backyard BBQ not done for 16 years on our 1st trip, 4 adults in our 20's and just went for the drink, great evening but don't remember a lot about it:rotfl: just remember it was a big marquee and very hot.
Spirit of Aloha, we booked to go last month but when we went in May we looked around the venue, decided to do Hoop instead, looked far too hot as its open to the heat. We just prefer to have good aircon when eating and drinking. Considering it again for next August if we do DDP.

Thank you :goodvibes Do you know of a thread that I can read to see exactly what these shows are about please :thumbsup2

Have done Hoop Dee Doo (2007) DH me and DS's then 11&9. Really not our thing. The food was ok, but the hall was freezing, everyone had napkins wrapped around them. Food was replenished without asking. None of us enjoyed the show, it just wasn't our thing (unusual for us as we are big on West End Musicals). each to their own though!
The Aloha show (did this August) was very good, we enjoyed both the show and the food, again the food was replenished without being asked to. The area is under cover, but out in the open (does that make sense?). We didn't find it too hot. beware though, it can be cancelled if the weather is bad.
Have not done the Backyard BBQ, we felt it was aimed more for younger children and also reading reports on here, some people complained of flies on the food, but there were good reports on it too.

:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

You know what I need don't you, something that is easy and done in "janet and john" - thank you :goodvibes

Could you point me in the direction of details re the fantasmic show/package please, still not really sure exactly what it is ;)

Been to Fantasmic numerous times but never as part of a dining package. We considered it this August but too many other places we wanted to eat, all the HS places got knocked off our list.

Fantasmic is a show in a purpose built arena with water, lights, fireworks, Characters and music. Its about Good overcoming evil, a bit too complex for younger children to understand but most still like to see it. lasts just under half hour.

Sorry what is "HS" places??

Oh sounds quite a dark show, not sure if that keen but will look at your links - thanks :goodvibes

We really enjoyed Hoop de Do when we did it a couple of years ago. DS did it this year again with SIL and BIL. We thought it was really good.

Mickey backyard BBQ, we did this 2 years ago on free dining. It was hot and we were tired. The food was mediocre and the music far too loud for us. We ended up leaving early.

Aloha dinner, again we did it 2 years ago too. The food was OK, but we didn't think it was good. The show was OK, but formulaic.

If we were going to be doing one of them again (at our own expense) it would be Hoop do Do. However, your mileage may vary.

:) Chris

We thought the same - it was a bit slapstick for us, and we didn't enjoy it much. The food was average, not awful but not that good either and we felt the whole meal was a bit rushed. I am glad we tried it once though. The Americans love it though - and go back year after year - so we are in the minority for not enjoying it! What was nice was the alcohol included, which was good, as was the buses that took you straight back to your (onsite) resorts after you had had a few drinks!

We haven't done the other 2 shows, and not really bothered about them either.

:)
