Lucky 13th - Anniversary

We are heading back again. This trip will mark our 13th Anniversary of our Honeymoon at the Beach Club. Any thoughts on making comments of the Anniversary at Check-In? Something like "I hope Disney can make this a LUCKY 13th Anniversary." I am not looking for the keys to the world. Just thought if we share the news maybe we might get a little something to add to the special day...

As a cast member, the above phrase just rubs me wrong. It is just crying for "free stuff" and "free upgrades." There is nothing I would give except "Congratulations" and an annivesary button. If there anything else you could say. Well maybe "We are so happy to be here for our anniversary." I will NEVER give a free upgrade to someone who just asks or hints for it. I will offer the guest a PAID upgrade if that is what you want. If you want it, pay for it. But if you are just nice, happy, and excited to be there, I will try to see if there is anything I can do for you. Free upgrades are few and far between. And remember you are much more likely to be upgraded during a very busy time, not a slow time of the year.

I was not looking for a free upgrade. We have a reserved what we wanted at the Boardwalk (Boardwalk view). I was not trying to nor do I wish to "rub" someone the wrong way. Disney for us has always had little magical moments which seem to make the difference in a vacation and a disney vacation. I was just trying to think of a way to share our "news" without wearing a T-shirt saying it. I guess the easy way would be to ask for a button. Again, I was trying to give the opportunity for a little magic without asking. Yes, it was a hint but not for a "free upgrade." Thanks for your thoughts.

I hope I did not offend. It seemed like an innocent question at the time...:confused3

When DDs & I visited this summer, we were asked what we were celebrating when we made our resort reservations & ADRs. We were also asked when we checked into the resort, if we were celebrating anything special? It was actually the Adoption Anniversary for my DDs. We did receive a cute towel animal and card from Mickey in our room. When we ate at Fultons on July 4th they prepared a special dessert for DDs & gave the girls a special card signed by the staff.

I would just make sure it is noted on your reservation that it is your anniversary, and ask for buttons when you check in. If the CM working when you check in wants to try to do something special for you, he would know it was your anniversary that way. Have a great trip!

DH & I celebrated our 15th this summer at WDW.

I did mention it when I booked our rooms -- they asked "what are you celebrating?" so I told them!;)

Well, at the BC, when we checked in, there was the sweetest sign printed out and taped to the mirror over the table -- Cinderella and the Prince and it said Happy Anniversary on it! There were also 2 balloons and a couple of candy bars.

At AKL, nothing special was done, but we didn't expect anything, so we were still just thrilled to be there.

At the GF, Mousekeeping left us a beautiful 3-tiered "wedding cake" made of towels. We left it there but really enjoyed having it in our room. They also put some roses and a tiny bottle of champagne in our room!

I made all of the reservations at the same time, so I guess the CM at CRO just put it down for all 3!!!:rotfl: There was also a complimentary dessert at Boma, which was funny because it found it's way to us after we had eaten WAY too much at the buffet. Luckily it was tiny!;)

All of this was way more than I ever expected (just thought they'd give us the Bday buttons), but it did make our trip extra special. The nicest part, though, was how all the CMs saw our buttons and said congrats to us.

I understand that you're just wondering what can happen, so I'm sharing this with you. But sometimes things don't go so well, so don't let it get you down. If they forget to give you your buttons, just ask for them! (They forgot to give my DD her bday button when we went on her bday!)

Thank you all for the information. We are renting points for our stay at the Boardwalk so I did not have the chance to comment about our anniversary. To be honest, I forgot to mention it when I made the dining reservations. I was so happy that I got the dates and times I wanted. :yay: I noticed that the Wishes Dessert Party has been extended. I think I will try and set this up. (I will make an effort to let them know it is our anniversary) Like I said before, those little things are what makes Disney the magical place...
