Difference between TCD and Virgin

We are looking at travelling next November with TCD. I have asked these questions to each of the agents I have spoken to at TCD but get a different answer from each. I was hoping someone on here who had travelled with TCD recently might be able to help.

Here are the questions:-

Do we get the DTD drop off with TCD? (1 agent said yes, 1 said no and the other said they don't offer it but you can buy it inflight)

Do we get car seats included in the platinum insurance?

When the new baggage allowance comes in, can we pay the £32 online for an extra case?

Would we get our Flying Club points from the flight?

Do we go to the Virgin "manage my holiday" website to make payments?

Are there any othe differences between Virgin and TCD?

And, this last questions is a bit different. We are hoping to stay at Best Western Lake Buena Vista. It is showing on the TCD website but not on Virgin's website. Does this mean that you cannot stay there with Virgin? This is just in case we decide to switch from TCD to Virgin.

Thanks for your help.

i can answer a few

if you fly with virgin atlantic you can get the dtd check in but may have to pay $10 each as its only for virgin holidays guests

car seats are not included in anyones insurance, these are payable locally

i would think you can pay the £32 online at Virgin Atlantics website once the booking has been passed over to them

As long as you are on a va flight you get miles

you wont be able to get on the Virgin Holidays manage my booking screens as you havent booked through them, they are all under the same umbrella but all different companies in their own right

I'm not sure of any differences between the two just one might be cheaper and does not do as many hotels as Virgin Holidays

I'm not sure you will be able to switch bookings to a different company without losing your deposit

hope this all kind of helps

thanks for the info so far. Just to clarify though, I am talking about Travel City Direct not Virgin Atlantic and also, Virgin Holidays does offer free child seats with it's platinum insurance.

The carrier for you flight is Virgin atlantic whether you booked direct with Virgin atlantic, Virgin holidays or TCD.

TCD is part of the Virgin holidays group so you get all the benefits of VH.
The car hire is also the same T & c's as Virgin holidays, indeed if you look on the TCD web site it tells you this, plus all the information you need.

As orangetiggs has said, as long as you are flying Virgin Atlantic then you will be able to do DTD check-in just like any other VA passenger can.

Can someone explain? is there a difference with buying through TCD or Virgin because i checked and i've come out with the same price on both so no price difference so would personally just go direct through virgin.

Virgin Atlantic: Flights only, pay straight away
Virgin holidays: Fly-Drive, Flights and Hotel & car, Any time period,
Pay in installments
TCD: Virgin holidays, but package only, in set weekly timescales.

The holiday we were looking at (staying for 2wks next nov at the International Plaza flying from Manchester) is £2706 with Travel City Direct and £3311 with Virgin Holidays. The second hotel we looked at (Best Western Lake Buena Vista) didn't even show up on Virgin Holidays website. I guess it just depends when you are booking for.

So, sorry for sounding dumb but if we went with TCD we would get all and every benefit that we would get travelling with Virgin Holidays?
