Suggestions for last minute ADR during Free Dining?

My dsil and db are celebrating their 5th anniversary, and they haven't booked an evening ADR for themselves when we all (8 of us) meet up in WDW in two weeks... :sad2:

So they are in need of a dinner ADR, just for two, during our trip...

They do NOT like seafood. I don't see them as the type to experiment a lot either, though they do enjoy a little spice sometimes (not necessary though). Dsil enjoys her carbs (so unlike me!) like rice and pasta. Db... well, lots of meats are good... pasta's good... spicy is good...

And they'd appreciate a good dessert too! ;)

Any suggestions on something good that has a chance of being available just a couple weeks in advance?

We had a really nice time at The Wave! The food was great and so was the service. It has a nice, relaxing atomosphere, too.

Planet Hollywood has one of the largest and most varied menus, with lots of pasta options. I love their ribs and they have a decent steak. Dessert options are also pretty good and I love their cheesecake. My DD15 loves, loves, loves their chicken crunch appetizer. Go to allears and take a look at their menu.

With 3 floors, we've never had a problem getting in and in fact, usually end up going before our ADR time since we know how accomodating they always are. I've seen numerous groups walk up to their outside podium and the hostess always seems to tell everyone it'll be about a 5 minute wait.

What about Biergarten, or The Wave, Grand Floridian Cafe, Artist Point?

Good suggestions... Artist Point is a signature right? I'm not sure if they might be open to those or not... I haven't thought of that possibility.

Since they both like pasta, what about Tutto Italia?

Would be good except that the best night for them to have "their night" is after we are all going to a noon ADR at Tutto that day. If it weren't for that, it would be a great suggestion though!

I've never been there... don't honestly know much about it. We'll have to check out a menu and/or some reviews.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone! :goodvibes

Hey! We'll be there the same week! (9/28-10/5 for us.) Just read the beginning of your pre-trip report. If your ADR's haven't changed, we'll be at Crystal Palace the same time. :) See you there!! LOL

Check out the Sept & Oct ADR threads, if you haven't already. TONS of Disers swapping ADRS, or giving heads up on cancellations. Something great might pop up for them. :)

Looks like a bunch of there at the same time, Sept 30 - Oct 6 for us at BCV.

I know it's not the first thing you think of when you consider an anniversary dinner, but how about Trail's End? I've heard the food is simple yet well-prepared and there a really good chance that they could snag an ADR. They could walk around Ft Wilderness afterward in that gorgeous setting, rent bikes, or take a carriage ride.

Boatwright's is another location in a beautiful resort that could be enjoyed by a couple celebrating their anniversary.

If you can't get any of your first choices or something in a park, consider the Maya Grill. It is at Coronado Springs (I think, it's been awhile). It has steaks, but has a Hispanic sort of feel/taste to it. We really enjoyed it. Also, don't forget Downtown Disney. I have not ate at Captain Jacks but they do have more than seafood. My husband also enjoyed Olivia's at OKW. It is simple though. Not spectacular. I really like Mama Melroses, but with it being attached to Fantasmic, it is sometimes booked. Good luck! You can always call and see what is available. We had to do that once!

We enjoyed Kona at the Poly on Sept 1. It was during our free dining trip and the one restaurant that wasn't jammed!

Try the Turf Club at SSR. Good steaks and other types of meat.

Neat! Good idea!

And if you see us and recognize us at Crystal Palace, by all means stop by and say "Hey, I read your pre-trip report on the Dis!" And I'll say, "Oh, it's you! Hi! Tried the puffed french toast yet?"

Ahhh... you got a good spot for Food & Wine... enjoy! :thumbsup2

I don't know if they'd be into Trail's End... but worth a shot. Boatwright's might be a possibility too... to think I just got back from POR less than two months ago and I didn't even think of that one! Ha! Good suggestions... you're right, I doubt they'd be booked! And a nice boat ride from Downtown Disney to Boatwright's might be a nice addition...

Maya Grill... that might be a possibility. Good suggestion! I don't even think about the moderate resorts for TS... but a couple are out there!

Also, there's the Mexican restaurant at Epcot. The atmosphere is very nice and they definitely have carbs.

I like the atmosphere there. To me the food was decent. I probably just wouldn't go back because my kids aren't really into Mexican food. They won't have the kids, so it would be a possibility - except I think I remember having a conversation with them when dsil said she didn't like San Angel. :confused3

I would agree with Turf Club at SSR, also consider the Captain's Grille at the Yacht Club, we have been able to also get last minute ADRs to Kona Cafe at the Polynesian and I too also like the Grand Floridian Cafe.

What about Marrakesh? People are always "scared" of it, but it offers some pretty tame items, really! The atomosphere is cool (unique) and the service is great!

LOL If I see you, I'll say "Oh hell, yeah! I LOVE the puffed french toast!!! Gotta run...Tigger's waiting for a photo op with ME!" :rotfl2:

LMAO, I love how you post about me DSIL :).

Thank you all for the ideas.

I didn't make an ADR for our anniversary, because we're already going to all of my favorite places. We have a TS ADR for every day of our trip already, so we'd be paying for another TS OOP and we really wanted to make this trip as cheap as possible.

I think I'm just going to leave it as is, and enjoy the family trip :).

Okey dokey... at least I now have ideas if we plan a last minute trip in the future!
