Upgrading free DDP to Deluxe

Yup, my mom and I are doing that for our December trip! I think it only comes out to be $150 more for two people, so it is definitely worth it!

If you have free basic and want to upgrade to deluxe, the cost is an extra $32 per night per adult and $10 per night per child.

You guy's are the best! Really, I'm still on hold. They have the oddest phone tree. I'm not sure why the agent transferred me to Grand Gatherings and couldn't tell me. Also, I had to go through all of my information, name, address and phone number.

Still no agent.

OK, got through. I'm going to have to think about this. Both girls are now considered "adults" at 10 and 11. So we will have to pay an extra $120/day. Hmmm.

Anybody know a thread that goes through the pro's and con's. Deluxe's get extra TS credits but do they get App's? We always order one.

We have upgraded to deluxe dining from the regular free plan. With Deluxe, you get 3 meal credits per night. You can use these as TS or CS restaurants. You also get apps with your meals. You get 2 snacks per day instead of 1. Lastly, you get a refillable mug. On the basic DDP we almost always bought apps and always bought mugs. We also would end up paying OOP for a meal or two. For this trip, we have 8 full days at WDW (7 nights) and have ADRs for 13 TS restaurants, including several Signature places which will take 2 credits. We alloted 5 credits unaccounted for to use for CS.

Some people don't want to spend their whole trip in restaurants. But, this trip we do!! I am really looking forward to it.

We upgraded for our trip next week. Our TA had to talk to someone in Guest Services because the person answering the phone at Dis had no idea. Unless you have alot of people it shouldn't go to Grand Gatherings.

Does anyone if this can be done at check-in? or Does it have to be arranged pre-arrival?

I think it has to be done prior to arrival. I am not sure, though. I remember something about not being able to make dining plan arrangements upon arrival, but that it needed to be done something like 48 hours in advance. Just a guess on my part, though.

I asked the same question and the agent said I could upgrade up until 5 days before arrival.

I think we're going to do it. I always like an egg at breakfast so pay OOP for it. It will cost around $1,100 for 9 nights but we think of the restaurants as part of our vacation and already have 3 signature restaurants booked.

My kids don't drink soda and I don't want them to have too much punch or lemonade, so what else can you get with the refillable mugs?

It's good to know upgrading is possible. We'd like to take advantage of this but wouldn't use the regular plan much. Anyone know if downgrading is possible? We'd be staying at a moderate resort but would prefer to have the QSDP.

DS and I upgraded last year and had the best trip! Neither of us drink soda (well, I am actually a Pepsi girl!). We filled our mugs with iced tea most nights when we got back to the room. It is unsweetened which is what we drink anyway. Not sure if that is an option for your girls? I am sure someone will know if juice is available but we don't really drink it so I never looked.

We upgrade every year. But food is part of our vacation plans:lmao:. If you feel like you don't want to, or can't eat 3 meals a day, we book a late buffet breakfast and a 2credit dinner for around 7-ish. Because the buffets are so filling, you get a lot of mileage out of them, and then dinner includes the app, entree and dessert. If you get peckish use your snack credits to tie you over. :goodvibes

Juice and milk are not available for refillable mugs.

The soda alternatives besides punch or lemonade would be coffee, tea (hot or iced) and hot chocolate.
