If we decide not to hire a car can anyone tell me how they get to :-

sea world
aquatica
busch gardens
universal studios
discovery cove

Do any of the above do free transfers from disney to their parks?

If not does anyone know a website i can look for prices.

Also with the disney parks ..... Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon - do they give free transfers??

THANK YOU

If you are staying at a Disney hotel you get free transport to all the disney parks & water park plus DTD.

To get to the other parks you will have to pay for shuttle. Mears do them but I am not sure if they have prices online.

I cannot find any prices on the website (probably not looking in right place).

With eight of us, I need to know how much it would cost to pay to have transfer to these places, so know if worth paying out for hire car or not.

I know to all you guys who go regularly it is so easy, but I am pulling my hair out with it all :lmao::lmao:

I can't really offer much advice, really, but we won't have a car next year and to get round taxis etc. we're considering doing 1 week on-site at Disney, and another week either on-site at Universal (I can dream) or I Drive.

I too was worried about taxi costs, transfers etc. It is possible, as someone said Mears, but alot of people seem to say that it takes a lot longer (as picks up from various locations) and can often leave before the end of the night (miss fireworks etc.).

I don't mind using the odd taxi, and I'm sure we will, but didn't wanna pay a load of our holiday money on taxis!

With 8 of you, it might work out cheaper to hire a larger taxi though as the cost will be split. I think Mears also offer a Shuttle service you can hire that's a bit like a mini-van, I'm not 100% though!

Mears shuttle transfers are about 16 dollars per person. You call them the night before to arrange pick up then call to arrange pick up from the park and they USUALLY pick up within about half an hour from what I remember. Although we did have one day at MGM when they were an hour late - no shade and 105 degrees. It was hell.

Myself and DBF didn't have a car last April and we used the Mears shuttle to get around to the places off-site.

It cost is $16 each for a round trip to places (we didn't do Busch Gardens). We got picked up early morning from our hotel reception and called them up from whichever park we were at when we wanted to return back.

Taxi's are apparently very expensive, we only used one once to get to the Outlet Village. We picked one up from DTD.

Thank you for your help :goodvibes

The problem is, we have decided to fly with FC into sanford. The reason being in case we need to cancel florida (never know what is around the corner) we can transfer our flight deposit to a cheap holiday in the sun for a week.

This means we will need transport from sanford to disney.

If we did not have this worry we could have just hired a car for 7-10 days to do the other parks.

So now it is :-

Pay for transfer from sanford to disney and pay transfers to the non disney parks

Or

Hire a car for three weeks, which is expensive.

But cannot price compare unless go on 16 dollars per person return which would work out 128 dollars per day transfer cost

AH ! To be honest I am getting so stressed about it all, the fun has gone out of the holiday.

If only Mears had a UK number or at least an email.

Oh what an awful dilemma :sad2:

It would be an awful lot to do the transfers for the three weeks you are there though. If you worked out what you'd use on the transfers and how much your car hire would cost (I imagine that FC would be able to give you a price for car hire for three weeks) then I'd go from there?

I've looked for a Mears e-mail for you also, but had no luck - I think it's very silly they don't have one, knowing that UK visitors use them and it would be handy to get in touch.

Hope you feel better about your holiday soon!

Thank you

FC said to me yesterday their fly drive was only £40 more :woohoo:

Then she told me I would have to pay for insurance which was around £800!

We would probably only use transfers for around 7 days out of the 21 (apart from sanford to disney and back)

Should have just booked two weeks in five star hotel in cyprus :lmao: Less hassle :rotfl:

With the costs I have seen for Sanford transfers & approx costs of getting to these parks outside Disney I would guess its similar costs to renting a car from somewhere like USrentacar, what was it? around £600, FC price is crazy.
Also more convenient not waiting for shuttles/taxis.
All down to if someone wants to drive but I could not cope with the hassle of getting 3 of us around without a car never mind 8.

In 06 there was 7 of us and we didn't hire any cars. We went to Discovery Cove, Seaworld twice and Universal twice, we got taxis from outside our Disney hotel for all of these.
I'm sorry I can't remember any prices but split between 7 of us I remember thinking 'that's not a bad price...' Sorry not very helpful I know... :cool1:
We only ever got one seven seater wherever we went and there was always taxis waiting outside the place we went to take us back to our hotel. We got one of the taxi driver's business cards and we used him our whole trip, he was sooo friendly and helpful!
Hope this helps a bit :goodvibes

DH and my sister's boyfriend is prepared to drive.

We would need an eight seater at least (worried re the luggage on the airport transfers :rotfl:).

looked on usrentacar and the cost is around £800 for three weeks.

Looked for seven days, it is £264 or £307.

Maybe be better to hire car for seven days to do other non disney parks and just pay transfer with mears from sanford to disney????

People who hire car, do you go for gold cover or all inclusive please ??

3 weeks with usrentacar.co.uk/Alamo 8 seater £582.11 or with tank of gas £641.37.

Might be cheaper elsewhere but they are usually about the cheapest.

I have no idea where I got my cost from then !!

Could you price up ten days for me - please please please :goodvibes

I have just seen why the difference in price it jumps up next year(no idea what date it changes) I guess they are charging OTT for next year as they have no idea which way the $/£ is going, hopefully prices will drop to nearer to this years prices. Some other companies don't even have next years on sale yet, its too early really to be getting prices.

There is always linx buses (they have a website). I don't know about the transfer between sanford and Disney but they will get you to the other places. To get to busch gardens they have a bus which is $5.

no problem, ive been 5 times to wdw and never driven. you dont need a car. dont let anyone tell you different. "need" is the operative word. if you have a car, your holiday is simple to organise. if you dont have a car, your holiday is simple to organise. period. when you get to your resort ask the concierge. job done. never hire a mears shuttle, hire a mears taxi. they come as a yellow cab. but they are mears. youll find the driver will stick with you the whole holiday. lynx buses $2 a trip. get on them!!!!!!!!
