DDP and CRT and Credit Card Info

I have the deluxe Dining Plan and was leaning towards CRT and possibly the Spirit of Aloha dinners.

If doing this on-line - will I need to enter a Credit Card number and will it "hold" that balance against the card? Just wondering. I will be doing this at 3am so I need to be a bit prepared because I am not sure how awake I truly will be....

Beware the online dining system when attempting to book prepaid meals on the dining plan.

For one thing, you've got to make sure you enter your resort reservation number when it asks you to, because unless the system recognizes you are on the dining plan it will charge you in full no matter what.

For the other thing, even if you enter your resort reservation number, it doesn't always work - it might still try to charge you in full. When you go to check out pay attention to what it tells you you will be paying before you click through to the final screen.

If, even when you enter your reservation number, the system does not recognize that you will be on the dining plan and requires that you pay in full, the only two choices you have are to pay in full for the dinner shows and be reimbursed by switching to dining credits when you get there, or wait until the phone line opens and book by phone.

Just as the other person stated, you must retrieve your reservation. You must do this before you search for a specific date & time; otherwise, it will charge the full amount. I had to empty my cart with my date/time, then go back & enter the resort confirmation number, and finally go through the process again. I still had to enter the CC number, but it showed a $0.00 charge.

Good luck! :wizard:

Okay. I attached my reservation to my resort number, and the full amount is showing up on our credit card statement. I am on the dining plan. When I called dining, the CM told me that Disney would "reimburse" after the trip. Was I given incorrect information? And what about the interest we are paying in the meantime?

I don't dare call and have them mess with it, because I'm afraid my reservation will need to be cancelled for them to take off the CC charge.

Please help!

They do have to cancel your reservation in order to reverse the CC charge.

That's why when you book online you need to check the total amount. If it has charges and you are on the dining plan go back and cancel those ADR's and continue your check out for the rest of your ADR's. Then you can go back and try to make the system recognize that you are on the DP and book that ADR again or you can call and have a CM book it.

Okay, still not understanding what I did wrong.

CRT was the first ADR I made at 6:01 am. I had my resort reservation connected and was all set to go. I found the time I wanted, put it in my cart, then checked out. Are you saying that when I saw the full amount of the charge, I should have then cancelled out of it and started over? I'm not sure why anyone would want to do that when you just got CRT? And I still had other ones to make that are hard to get, like 'Ohana and Chef Mickey's. And what am I supposed to do to "try" to make the system recognize the DP that I didn't already do?

This makes zero sense to me. What am I missing?

and it still wanted to charge my credit card; even though, I have the dining plan; so, I didn't do it. I ended up calling instead and waiting the hour to do it by phone. I ended up with what I wanted with CRT; so, I'm happy and no credit card charge.

I had heard about this problem on other threads; so, I was very careful with every screen on line. By the way, this wasn't even the first one I did on line, either. It worked well for the reservations w/o credit card. I ended up calling 3 special ones (Fantasmic package, CP package and CRT) on the phone out of 12.

I'll share some other info from a dining CM. I called the night before about this very problem; because, I wanted to be ready for action. The CM mentioned I needed a 12 digit number (used for dining) that's connected with my Disney Travel reservation number. My Disney Travel number was not 12 digit and it had alpha characters. The CM was kind to me and gave me the other number, but in the end that didn't help either.

I think the on line dining system will get better in the future. You just have to be careful, right now. There's another thread out there that is talking about another problem happening with the on line dining system, right now.

I guess I wasn't as brave as you. I was booking CRT for my DD3's birthday, and I just didn't dare let it go once I had it. Yes, I saw that the full amount was there, but I wasn't really sure if that would actually show up on my statement, and I didn't read the fine print because I was too anxious. It wouldn't have mattered - I was going to check out with CRT one way or the other. ;)

My disney reservation number is also not 12 digits, and has alpha characters, but really, that is kind of crazy that would be an issue. I can't help what I have for a reservation number!

So I guess when we get there, I switch it to credits and get reimbursed?

When I made my ADRs, I retrieved my resort reservation right a 6:00 am, before making any ADR's. When, I made a reservation at CRT my credit card was charged for the full price of the meal. I called disney and the cm told me, that if i told the cm's present at CRT that I wanted to use my dining plan credits for the meal, then disney would reverse the charge on my credit card at that time. I hope we were both told correctly. I don't remember if CRT was the first reservation i made that morning or not. Way to early to be that perceptive.

Hey PrincessLover (and anyone else) I'm kind of new at this Disney thing (Never been) and I didn't realize I needed to make reservations the minute the 90 day window opened. If for any reason you can't make your 10:30 breakfast, would you be willing to let me have the reservation? Its my DD 5th birthday and her grandparents have arranged for us to go but I was unable to get any CRT for the weekend when they will be there. You can contact me at ALLGERASSTUDIO a.t. AOL.com

Check again for reservations that open up 48 hours before the date you want. I'd check even a day or two earlier. People have to cancel by 48 hours or they will get charged for a no show.
