Good decision. We has stellar service at POFQ and love it there. Never had a bus problem there. I presume it is hit and miss everywhere.

You are absolutely right! I can't base my resort decision on bus service alone. I've been dying to stay at FQ since visiting it on my last trip. It's such a lovely place. I imagine the only time the bus service would be unpredictable would be at park close and that's to be expected. If it becomes too big of a problem, I can rent a car.

I don't think you'll be disappointed - it is such a lovely place. And, if for some reason bus service is not what you hoped, try to remind yourself it could be worse at another resort ;)...or you could be standing uncovered at POP, rather at the lovely FQ bus stop (and the walk to FQ bus at the parks is not as far as POP).:thumbsup2

Have a wonderful trip!! :goodvibes

Jeany, part of bldg 4 is next to the lobby, but not all of bldg 4....some of that bldg is farther away.

Bldg 5 is a very good location! Close to the lobby, food court, bus, pool and boat to Downtown Disney! :goodvibes

I need to know is that which building is closer to the lobby?

After staying in some of the other resorts it is hard to picture how compact POFQ is. The lobby is within minutes of the furthest building. The only time #1 seemed to be a lifetime away was the night my DGD fell asleep in front of the castle and I carried her from there to the bus stop and all the way back to the resort which included a tour of SSR because the bus driver got confused. That night the walk was not fun but every other time it was lovely.

Opposite perspective for us -- We drive down and after driving for sixteen hours, dh is more than happy to leave the rest of the driving to them. We view the buses as part of the Disney experience. We get to chat with people, find out where they are from, impart some DIS wisdom to first timers, etc. If I recall correctly, the only long wait we had on our last trip was leaving AKL after lunch. We waited forever for a bus to come while we watched at least three of every other resort's buses come and go.

i wish i could be so laid back, old commando habits die hard;)yet i am not a fan of standing on the buses so it's probably all for the best

our drive is 20+ hours:headache: or we probably would considering driving down, sure would be a money saver on rental car in MCO i'd think

OT DH & I really enjoyed a lovely weekend last spring in Gettysburg:thumbsup2for the visitor center's opening. Stayed in the Wyndham outside of town, only wish we had more time to explore.

In December when the parks close so early, does POFG have any activities for the kids? Or what do you disney experts do for fun?:)

I avoid Gettysburg as much as possible, especially during the summer. I haven't even eaten at the Dobbin House, can you believe it? We're fifteen miles west of Gettysburg in the next county, so we don't have much need of going into Gettysburg, except for outlet shopping.

Are you in Fairfield?

Hey summersalt-I think I met you in May at BTMR!! We stayed at POFQ that week ( & 2 other times besides) & have NEVER had issues with the bus service there. It is our favorite resort & lets just say I am very fussy!! Granted we have not stayed at a deluxe yet but just love POFQ!!

That sounds like us. I'll choose the bus over driving any time. For me and my family its part of the relaxation of the trip. When driving (we flew on our last trip) I enjoy parking the van and not seeing it again until checkout time.

We were in bldg 5, about two doors from the food court side. I never knew there could be such a convenient location at a WDW resort! Food court as right outside the door; pool was just around the corner; boat dock was only a few steps away.

Now about those buses... let's just hope the system was having a bad week/month.

Hey Girl! It's so good to hear from you. Thanks for your posting your opinion of FQ. I am really looking forward to staying there. We visited there on our last visit and I really fell in love with it! I see by your ticker that you have another trip planned. Where are you staying? Hope you have a fabulous trip!

All of this bus talk has me thinking. If you have an early ADR (8 ish) is it better to take your own car or do the buses get you there in time? I would hate to miss a much anticipated ADR due to buses.
Thanks
Debbie

Yeah me too! We are going to taking the bus and I wonder the same question too!

I did a behind the scene tour of AKL which was an 8:15 meet at the entrance. I was advised to maybe take a cab, since I didn't have a car, to be there on time. I took a 7am bus from POFQ and made it in plenty of time.

Nope, further west on Rt. 30, near Caledonia.

We lived in the Gettysburg area a LONG time ago, and had land outside of Fairfield. I just drove through there on my way to MagicMeets2009 last month and was surprised at all the changes. I found the downtown area to be a madhouse, so I understand why you don't go there in the summer!

thanks for the info! Does the POFQ has Coffee makers because I needed to know!

jeany - all the rooms at POFQ have a coffee pot in them. There are lots of things in the room that make it a great place to be. Look on page one: Andrew has listed everything that is in the room there. And keep asking questions about the things you don't already know!

I am a bus person too. My DH drives for a living so I refuse to rent a car at Disney. Granted, we are at that point in our lives where needing to rush takes a backseat to just getting there :upsidedow. I consider the ride and the wait as part of my vacation, take a Sudoku book with me and do the puzzles while waiting.

One thing we did do was take a cab back to POFQ from the Beach Club and the Yacht Club on the evenings that we had dinner planned at those resorts. It was worth the $12 bucks to get back in less than 15 minutes.

Jeany- I never used the coffee makers in the room, we bought the mugs at the food court. We were there during the Holiday season and the coffee cups left in the room were Christmas ones so many times I just used one of them for coffee. I liked the mug for water and I never felt like I could get that coffee taste out of the plastic:scared:! Anyway, I liked the walk to the food court to get coffee in the morning while the rest of the family either slept or got ready and then I just tossed the cup.
