DDP Question I can't find the answer to?

So we decided to upgrade our 9 year old daughter to an adult so she can get adult meals. But dh & I are going to Cali Grill without the kids which leaves extra kids DDP. So we'll end up having to pay for some of our meals OOP. One meal we're going to pay for is Crystal Palace lunch. So I'll need to pay for the 9 year old (& dh & I.) Will we pay the child price or the adult price for her?

Since you are paying out of pocket, and she is 9, I would pay for the child price.

Probably child price. Of course, if they doubt she's under 10, I'd have something to back that up since your KTTW card will indicate that she's a "dining adult" -- if you're paying for part of the meal with credits, this can cause confusion.

What? A copy of her birth certificate? Should we have all 3 girls' certificates? I hadn't thought of that but I can carry them.

Wow, if you're paying OOP, I can't imagine them questioning her age (9 vs 10)! Just explain that she's actually 9, but you got the adult DDP. I've had my picky 11 year old order off the kids menu, and no one said anything. Of course, you could get a CM who wants to make it difficult.

All you have to do is tell the server you want to buy her a child's meal and pay cash for it. They don't have any way of knowing if the third adult on your dining plan is her or is another party member who didn't accompany you. You do NOT have to explain that you made her an adult on DDP, especially since you are paying cash for her meal.

The only reason you might have to prove her age is that Crystal Palace is a buffet and it's strictly enforced that 10 year olds pay adult prices, but you won't have to explain the dining plan to them if you're paying cash for her meal. They'll just want to know how old she is. That has nothing to do with your dining plan, because they can't tell who that dining plan was purchased for.

They'll let even obvious adults order child's meals if that's what they want.

However, the OP is talking about a buffet (Crystal Palace), not a plated meal. I was just putting out a note of caution, although CMs will generally simply take your word for a child's age.

Faldred, you're right, I missed that it was a buffet and changed it. However, they still don't have to explain that the kid's an adult on the dining plan.
