Double Booking ADR's?

The on-line system will let you book multiple ADR's, what will happen come time to eat....????...... Will they cancel them? Do I even risk it during Free Dining??? I would just LOVE to be able to switch my parks one day if we feel like it!

Thats a big no-no. Morally here on dis. People get pretty heated over certain topics. and This would be one of thier bigger ones. By double booking, you run the risk of a CM seeing it and cancelling ALL your ADRs.

But on the personal side, by double booking ADR's you are potentially taking a space that someone has been trying hard to get. And then if you dont use it, thats just rude. I can't see any way that someone would truly find this acceptable.

Having flexibility would be great, but it will come with a cost. If you're going during free dining, when the restaurants are completely full, then your double booking will keep another family from eating. At the very least, the other family will be forced to try to get a walk up table instead of having an adr they can plan around.

There continue to be sporadic reports that the new system will cancel both your reservations if you double book, but I don't think it's something that's certain to happen. You could always roll the dice.

I don't understand why the system will let you do it. Although it doesn't really cause someone "NOT" to eat during that time, if we don't show up, potentially someone could walk up and get in. So this in theory could allow for more walk ins the chance to eat.

Don't get me wrong, I TOTALLY understand the moral reason you shouldn't, and I don't plan on doing it. I just have one day that I'm not sure where we will end up, and I want to make sure we have somewhere to eat that night.

This is our first time on the dining plan, as well as using the on-line system, so I am really just trying to figure out how all this works. So, please, NO FLAMING - Just please help me understand how this works!!!

I've double booked on this trip but cancelled 17 or 18 days out. I was finalizing dinner with MNSSHP and the Dessert party so things got a little screwy. There are restaurants I would never double book and would work my schedule around. Cindy's breakfast and Le Cellier are two because those can be very difficult to get and it would be nasty to hold two ADR's in my opnion. Others like Boma or Beirgarten or Kona Cafe I dn't see a big problem. Those you can ussually call for an ADR on the day you're there.

Still I'd feel weird keeping two ADR's for the same meal. It's easy enough to get from park to park with a hopper pass or just switch parks for the day.

Don't double book, just plan a meal at a resort that night and then it doesn't matter which park you choose.

That is funny you say that, the majority of my ADR's are at the resorts for that reason! I just can't make up my mind!! I am not one of those stick to the plan kind of people, so this type of stuff is hard for me.

If a CM catches it in the system they will cancel your ADRS. There are Dining CMs that have posted about this in the past and have said that they have personally cancelled/deleted double booked ADRs in the dining system. Hopefully, one of them (RustyScrapper) will be along shortly to confirm this.

FYI, they don't really take walk-ups during free dining so you ARE taking up that reservation by double booking.

Last September during free dining....my husband and I were only able to get ONE reservation for our week........we went to Crystal Palace and that was it....We tried to walk up to Le Cellier at the opening but some lucky couple in front of us got the only opening......IT can happen but we didnt luck out....
Were we upset, NOPE .....we ate at counter service restaurants and we had a great time in Disney.....

Well, pretty much, yes.

I mean you may get an off time at one of the less popular resort restaurants, but they don't really take walk-ups at the more popular places, especially in the parks. You might get a walk-up at one of the Epcot countries like Japan or Morocco, but highly doubtful in the other parks. Disers who have just returned this week have said that the Magic Kingdom has signs posted at the entrance that say all table service restaurants are full and are not taking walk-ups.

We had a free dining code for mid-December last year and they were not taking walk-ups at any of the restaurants we dined at. We waited an average of 15 to 30 minutes for our ADRs and I saw walk-ups turned away when we were at Whispering Canyon, Crystal Palace, Liberty Tree, 1900 Park Fare, Chef Mickey's, Coral Reef and Garden Grill. The restaurants WILL be packed in November.

We went the last couple of years for free dining at the end of September, supposedly the slowest time of the year. The parks were dead, many rides were walk-on, but the restaurants were slammed.

We probably could have gotten a walk up table at some of the less popular places in epcot but there was no chance to do a walk up anywhere in mk, studios, or ak.

Don't discount how busy the restaurants will be during free dining, no matter how busy it is in the parks.
