Originally we were going to stay at a villa off site (eight of us)

Then the free dining came into force and we decided on saratoga springs (two bed villa).

Now not sure whether to :

Two weeks - Saratoga (plus point = lounge space, and fridge etc & in reality 3 separate sleeping areas) - free dining.

Two weeks - Animal Kingdom in two rooms, which would mean four in each room (negative = assume no fridge and lounge area etc) but it is AK !!! - free dining

Or one week of each - free dining.

I did suggest one week at disney and one week at a villa outside but rest not keen.

I have rung disney re villas at AK etc but they say not out until Oct/Nov and when they do they will not have free dining included.

Your thoughts again please ............... I cannot remember the last time I was as confused as trying to sort this holiday :lmao:

Personally I just wouldn't want to spend 2 weeks in a hotel room with that many people, i'd go nuts! :lmao:

I would take the 2 bed at Saratoga Springs. You can go visit the AKL as many times as you like, eat there, walk around, pick a nice rocking chair and just sit and relax and watch the animals etc, much nicer anyway than sitting on the chair in your balcony with people either side of you on their balconies as well!

I love AKL but space will always win for me over anything else. And Saratoga Springs is a lovely resort and so close to DTD, its definitely the winner for me.

I agree a hotel for that length of time wouldn't be for me for the number in your group.

Out of the two I would go with Saratoga Springs but for what it's worth 4 SSR/10 villa would be more 'my thing'.

Out of those 2, the SSR would be my preferred option too. Although, how will you decide how gets the fancy king size bedroom and who gets the sofa bed in the living room?
AKL rooms should all have a fridge anyway too.

Hello what do you mean by 4 SSR/10 Villa? As far as I know (but I am probably wrong as getting so confused it is untrue) we can only have the free dining on studio/one bed/two bed. I have rung up today and they do not have any tree top villas to offer.

Ah I did not know they had a fridge, thank you for that.

Re the fancy king size bedroom - there is only one way to find out .... fight :lmao::lmao:

Only joking, the way our family is set up, for one week my sister and partner will have this room, and the second week my hubby and I will, alternating between the sofa bed !

I think space wise the SS makes more sense (and maybe have two, one bed apartments so have two showers to use in the morning) and AK is AK after all.

This will be a one off family trip to orlando so I just want to make everything just right and with the SS the cost is about half compared to having two separate rooms at other disney hotels with the free dining plan with one counter service and one table.

Thank you again for all your help it really is much appreciated.

Am I right in saying at the SS you would get maid service and clean towels and bedding if you are "paying" for the hotel rather than use points???

the 2 bed villas have 2 bathrooms so you'd already have 2 showers :)

I would do SSR. I wouldn't even consider staying outside of Disney now we have stayed inside !
:yay:

Sorry I meant 4 nights SSR and then 10 off-site villa. I realise that doesn't necessarily fit in with the free dining etc , it was just a "would not fancy 2 weeks in a hotel kind of thing".

Probably muddied the waters a bit - ignore me

I would rather have more space and the freedom to eat off site than spend a fortnight in a hotel room - even a large SSR one - with 3 or 7 other people.

Oh thank you for that, I thought it was just one bathroom with shower and then a jacuzzi bath in the kingsize room :goodvibes:goodvibes Though the boys have offered to not have a shower in the mornings if it helps ... arent they good :lmao::lmao:

To be honest originally we had in mind a lovely villa but because of the free dining, we thought this way within reason we know what we are paying out before we go, but yes do totally agree with you re the space.

We have just returned fron WDW having spent 17 nights at SSR in a 2 bed villa. There were 6 of us and we asked for a lock off which meant that we had a lockable door between our 1 bed villa and a studio. 4 of us stayed in the 1 bed villa and my sister in law and brother in law stayed in the 1 bed studio. This was perfect as the lockable door was left open alot of time, but when we wanted some privacy you could just lock the adjoining door. The maid visited every day to clean the room. You will love this resort. It was superb.
About the AKL. We originally wanted to do a split stay but WDW would not let us have the free DDP if we stayed at 2 seperate hotels even if they were both Disney owned.
Let me know if you have any questions about SSR.

Would definately do SSR the 2 bedroom is plenty of room and has the big bath, seperate shower room and another bath with shower over and toilet in the extra part.
8 of you no problem I thought you were going to Florida not staying in your apartment, believe me there is a load of room in the parks for you not to feel crowded.LOL:rotfl:
Go and enjoy it.
