Hey girls. I waited for my boss to leave the office today so I could sneak on the Dis and when she left I got super busy. Of course.
Yesterday my Mom called the storage place and the lady tried to start an argument with my Mom over the phone. She kept telling to her (in a raised voice) that she didn't want to do it and she had no choice. And how terrible she felt and if we would have answered her letters this would have never happened. She told my Mom some other stuff too, but I don't remember now. My Mom said she stopped her mid sentence and told her "I just want what I requested from you ASAP, I did not call to argue with you" and the lady got all flustered and said okay and hung up. She faxed over the contract my parents signed, 2 letters she sent us (both dated sometime in July) and a payment history. Well the last time my parents made a full payment was May, my Mom made a half a payment in June (with the same lady's okay, go figure) and that's when she went on Monday to pay the rest of June and all of July. Even though my parents did not make their payments on time, I really feel that the storage place should have made MORE of an effort to get a hold of us. Oh and get this. Guess how much they got for ALL of our stuff?? $280!!
I about FLIPPED (okay I did) when I saw that.
My Mom was still really upset about it yesterday, she's doing much better now. I told her not to worry, everything can be replaced. We're very lucky none of that was personal, sentimental stuff. We couldn't keep my grandparent's couches forever anyways. You live and learn, I guess.
Thank you all ladies for all your wonderful support. You all have no idea how much better you made me feel.
On another note, it's SO HOT!
And I just ate 6 pieces of pineapple pizza. YUM!
Courtney... Cheryl gave you some good information.. be proactive ... in regards to reactionary measures.. go look at some of the antique stores for your grandparents couches.. and your parents dresser.. it sounds wrong even typing it.. yet perhaps you might can buy one piece back for
sentimental sake. I am sorry this happened to your family
Dawn, you are such a sweetheart.
That is a wonderful idea about antique stores and such. With how cheap they sold everything, I wouldn't be surprised if people were trying to resell any of that for a profit.
Awe Courtney I am soooo sorry to hear this happened to your family! When I was reading your heartbreaking story and (you are right it is only material stuff but it was your families stuff and it still holds value to you all, not fair of them at all) I was thinking
oh Cheryl any advice for them and then I read her comments. I hope you can get some recourse! I also just want to get in my car and drive to Camarillo and take you to lunch but then my office phone rang and I thought oh yes, I have to work to pay my bills! If I had some extra hours at lunch I would be there in a flash.
Oh Vicki, thank you!
You're so sweet about thinking of me to wan to come to Camarillo! Just the thought of it is so sweet of you.
Courtney- I don't know how I missed this yesterday, but that is just awful. How can people be so MEAN & inconsiderate
. Your parents should definitely pursue the issue since they never received any warnings.
Hi Katie!
I'm sorry about what happened to your car. What a drag. Thank you for the nice thoughts.
I read this last night but was unable to comment via my phone. I'm SO sorry this happened. It sounds UBER fishy and you should definitely DEMAND the copies of the "official papers" they sent your parents. If they don't have any, I would definitely take them to court. It's likely they have done this to many other people
Thank you, Cristabel.
Hello ladies.
I have not had a good week.
Yesterday ex-BF was stalking my office--he did a drive by . . . .slowly . . . . just as I walked out for lunch so I saw him. I don't think he saw me however. Yuck.
Then today has been a madhouse--a last minute rush to get a document signed by tomorrow and conveniently the other other side's assistant leaves at 11 a,.m. our time (he's on east coast) and he doesn't know how to use his computer. Then my client was only available to sign at 3:30 p.m. our time. So it was a mad rush to get it done (but we did).
THEN . . . .Bella chewed through my computer monitor cord this morning.
Staples didn't have a replacement--I guess I will have to order one. THEN she chewed through the cord of my optical device this afternoon!!!! Which means that neither my mouse or keyboard work! So now I am using the ones off my extra computer (and I hate the keyboard).
It's been a day!
Edited to Add: Oh yeah--and the house across the street was burglarized yesterday. I had planned to leave Bella home today because I knew it was going to be a crazy work day, but brought her because I didn't want the burglars to get her. Remind me to go with my gut!
Ew, what a creep. Be safe, Cheryl.
My chihuahua chewed through my laptop charger cord when she was a puppy. Crazy dogs will eat anything.
Hope you get a replacement for them soon.
