Online check in AND legroom seats?

Hey all!

If we check in online with Virgin, will we still be able to ask for extra leg room seats at the bag drop (the £30 or the £50) or would we have to do a normal check in?

Was discussing this earlier, and thought , since you get your pass etc , there HAS to be someone at a terminal who checks seating and gives your ticket, so they should be able to upgrade the seats.

Sorry if this has been asked before, I did a search, found a few threads with similar questions but nothing I could find that was completely the same.

Thanks for any advice

Paul

They REALLY don't like changing your seats ( at your request) once you've checked in online, if you really want the legroom seats then just do normal check in and be there for when it opens.

i would have thought they will all go at twilight check in to be honest

I have changed seats at bag drop before but not to the extra leg room ones

I was under the impression that Twilight Check-in was only available at Gatwick for Virgin Atlantic? Is this correct?

Just checking because we are flying from Manchester and being rather tall - I was intending to get there before bag-drop opens to try and ask for extra legroom seats.

Excellent - so my plan for World Domination grows complete!!!! HAHAHA!

Actually, skip the world take over, I will settle for extra leg-room! :thumbsup2

Thankyou for the info...much appreciated. I have a couple other queries along the same vein if you can advise me please.

Thought I would log on to the virgin site and pre-request seats. Logged on ok, went into manage my booking, got the page up ok, but nowhere to select seat plans. On the right side, the payment options panel has items, but the modify your holiday and amend your info are empty, nothing in them at all. Is this how it should be? I understand I can't do some things without having receipt of tickets/documents but if people have been able to pre request seats online months in advance, i think there must be something wrong.

Also, if I cant get anything in the amend your info panel, will virgin collect the API automatically through online check in? Or will anything else have to be done?

You would never think this is my 11th trip over there !! lol Have never done the online checkin before, just want to make sure we do everything right!

Thanks in advance

Paul

Don't know if this helps, but recently flew from Manchester, checked in online first and then upgraded to extra leg room seats at bag drop. I simply asked when checking bags and they looked to see what was available. No PE left but a few extra leg room seats at 30 pound. I had to go and pay at the Virgin ticket counter opposite and was then good to go.

the exit seats are £50 each and you have to be fully fit to sit in these, no kids allowed

The extra leg room seats are throughout the economy cabin but from the list I have from my friends at VA most are right at the back of the plane (the 2 seaters instead of 3 seats)

Just had a check on my booking and yes those options eem to be missing at the moment apart from Enter APIS details is available against the names, next to entre meal request, but seat application is not there.
I can only assume that there is a problem with the website as I can see my seats on other web sites.

G-VROS (English Rose)
G-VGAL (Jersey Girl)
G-VLIP (Hot Lips)
G-VROM (Barbarella)
G-VROY (Pretty Woman)

On the above five planes, they are in rows 50 51 53 & 54

G-VTOP (Virginia Plain)
G-VAST (Ladybird)
G-VXLG (Ruby Tuesday)

The above three have them fitted in rows 22 31 32 62 & 63

Mad4WDW,
go in an manually enter the details about your flight in "retrive booking" and then you can see you seat assignment, it does seem the website is faulty

Cheers Obi, much appreciated...after a couple of hitches with it not loading , the page finally came up using that method.

Am a little worried, flight is almost full and almost completely reserved..only singles are left, no 2 seats together anywhere. Is this likely to be the case at the time or will things be altered nearer the time? My sis is REALLY not looking forward to this flight at all (hates economy tends to get panicky almost with the sense of limited room) and if we had to sit apart I think she would literally freak!

Thanks again

Give me you dates, flight numbers and airport and I will have a look at seat availability.
May not be until tomorrow though

Thanks Obi...details are Sept 15th, flight VS015 from Gatwick

Paul

PS You are welcome to tell my sis too if it looks like those seating requests are stuck in stone and we have to sit apart! lol

yes, its quite full.
UC showing 2 seats in fare codes
PE showing 9 in all codes, so yet agin VH not selling their allocation it seems
Economy max of 6 in Full fare Y and 4 in others.

Seat plan
shows
UC 6 seats free
PE zero, so all seats not taken in VH section
Econ 14 singles only.
Your best bet would be the 59 & 60 H seats as then you are just behind each other (and you can push your seat recline into your sister! )

Am i right in thinking that these are not actually confirmed seating, but more like requests? Ie those who have already requested their seats have no guarantee they will get and things can change when it comes to actual check in? Or do these almost always stay as they are?

Sis will NOT be happy with any of those singles...in fact I'm not even going to tell her about this right now until I know more...and yes, i am a chicken!
