No Quick Service at Fort Wilderness Cabins? Any Suggestions?

I just read that there are no quick service restaurants at Fort Wilderness. Is this true? If so, is the Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness on the same bus system? Can we catch a bus to Wilderness Lodge for a quick service meal?

Any suggestions from people who have stayed at the cabins? We will be on the dining plan and I'm just curious what we'll do for a quick meal.....

Yes, you can take a bus or a boat over to the Wilderness Lodge and eat at the Roaring Forks, for QS dining! You can also take a boat to the Contemporary Resort and eat there! :)

1) Fort Wilderness is a campground.
2) Most people make food in their camper or cabin.
3) There is little need for a fast food (aka Quick Service) joint.
4) They have posts to buy food makin's.
5) You can take the boat to WL or CR.
6) Plan on 45-55 minutes to get to either (walk time, wait time, plus trip).

Don't they take the QS credits at the Meadows snack bar? I had some good sandwiches and pretty good pizza there when staying at FW. I don't think they are open late though - like if you were coming back from the park late and wanted a bite to eat. I ate there around lunch time - say between 12 and 2 pm.

It is very simple to catch a bus to WL. Most of the time the Orange Settlement bus changed over to the WL bus when heading to WL, so I didn't even have to change buses. I liked to go to Roaring Forks for breakfast now and then. You can always take a boat to WL or CR, or use either CR or the MK boat to access the monorail to visit Poly and GF.

Personally though, I think it's more difficult to use your credits at your resort when staying at FW - plus you miss out on one of the great amenities of the cabin if you don't use the kitchen at all. I ate breakfast in the cabin most of the time (except for the aforementioned WL breakfast runs, usually on my way to MK) and probably ate dinner in my cabin about 50% of the time. I was not on the dining plan.

I think Trails End has carry out, but I'm sure that's not considered QS for the dining plan. We plan on doing the take out & eating in our cabin 1 night.

1. I am well aware its a campground
2. I would like to use some of my quick service at the "campground" if I can.
3. May be little need, but I would still like to know what my options are
4. I don't want to cook that many meals, I picked this campground because it was all that was available and I am sure many others have picked this campground for the same reason. Not everyone staying here has the intention of cooking every meal
5. I am aware of the boats/bus to other hotels
6. Grrrr....I hate your lists, they tend to be a bit negative in tone....

We just got back and stayed at VWL. But, we did take the boat that loops between FW, CR, and VWL. We never waited more than 10 minutes and the trips between the resorts were 5 minutes at most. I preferred the food at the CR to VWL so we went over there a few nights for QS.

There is also a walking path between FW and WL that you could use if you had extra time and wanted a leisurely stroll.

Have a great trip!

I think Fort Wilderness needs a quick service option. It's one of the things we don't like about it.

I know this post was from a while back, but as I am planning my upcoming trip to the campground, I completely AGREE!!! Even though I CAN cook at my camp, I DON'T WANT too! That is why we purchase the quick service dining plan. I was shocked to find out that breakfast will be an adventure every morning. :)

When we stayed there, we did one cook out meal at the cabins and ate at Roaring Fork once (we did not have the dining plan). The rest of the meals were at a park. I'd just do that more often.

We stayed in the Cabins August 2012 with FD and used quick service credits at Trails End. DH and I both used 2 credits for 2 chili cheese nachos and we used 2 QS credits for 1 large pizza and took it back to the cabin. It was amazing!

There is a boat that rund FW/WL/CR. It's about 20 minutes for a full circle. You can also take the boat over to CR for a quick service meal. You could also catch the monorail at the CR and go to the Poly or GF for their quick service and/or exploration. The boat runs from around 7am - 11pm.

There is also a bus that runs FW to WL all day. It leaves near the Hoop Dee Doo. The ride is just a few minutes.
