Length of Stay Tickets - or 10 Day non-expiring

OK, we love Disney, we go....ALOT. So, I think it makes more sense economically to buy the 10 day non-expiring pass than the one attached to my room key for length of stay.
Does anyone else do this? Can you still take advantage of the extra magic hours? Do you bring both your room key and your 10 day pass to do that?

yes. EMH is only dependent on staying onsite. your ticket situation is a nonissue.

There is no "length of stay" pass anymore. You buy as many days as you want and can have it attached to your room key or keep it separate.

If you go often it may be worthwhile to look into annual passes. With the DVC discount they are often a better deal than the 10-day tickets.

For example, a 10-day, non-expiring MYW pass with no hopping and no water parks is approximately $480. The regular Annual pass is $420 with DVC discount and you'll get the benefit of park hopping.

If you want to have the park hopping and water park options the 10-day ticket is $592 while the AP with DVC discount is $534.

Just something to think about.

I think that those eligible may still buy length of stay passes at Shades of Green. Not sure why this is still an option for military tickets and not for any other tickets. -- Suzanne

I love the non-expiring passes! You definitely get the most bang for your buck if you only travel once per year or less. I bought 8-day non exp passes this past spring (wish I bought the 10 day). We used 4 days and have 4 left.

Just prior to the price increase, I bought an AP, because we are going to travel to WDW 3 times within one year, starting next March, and the AP won't be activated until that time. I'll hold off on using the remaining 4 days until 2012. Now I don't have to purchase park tickets for the next three years! In the future, I'll be buying the 10-day non-exp passes.

If you go with the non expiring 10-day pass and you have any future interest in the water parks pay the extra $50 and you will have 10 days at the water parks anytime in the future even if you use them 1 per visit. This really adds to the value of the non-expiring tickets.

We too, have changed from APs to a multi-day no expiration, park hopper pass, life is just too uncertain right now for us to be sure we can make two trips in a calendar year.

I did that and covered two trips. I bought another 10 day non expiring and still have them. This year we are going for one week so we just bought a 7 day pass since we know that we are only going the one time. We are saving the 10 day passes for our next trip - or two! I do have the water park option too, so I may bring the passes with me incase we want to go to the water park and use them just for that. Haven't been to a water park yet, not warm enough on our last 3 trips, and kids were too little before that. Maybe this year....

It depends....

If you can't take advantage of the Annual Pass, there really isn't much savings with the non-expiring ticket unless
(1) you're taking advantage of the Park Hopping and/or Plus Options OR
(2) you're doing short park trips (less than 4 days with each trip)

NOTE: Ticket prices go up every year. So the more days you buy in advance the more you'll save in the long run. But the overall savings may be very little depending on the ticket purchased.

For example

If you decided that you wanted the MYW base ticket only (one theme park per day, no park hopping, no plus options, expires 14 days after 1st use) then

A 10day MYW Base w/no expiration ($481.38) is almost the same price as buying a 5day MYW Base Tickets expiring ($242.82) for your 1st visit + a 5day MYW Base Tickets expiring ($242.82) for your 2nd visit {$242.82 + $242.82 = $485.64}

A 10day MYW Base w/no expiration ($481.38) is almost the same price as buying a 7day MYW Base Tickets expiring ($249.21) for your 1st visit + a 3day MYW Base Tickets expiring ($233.24) for your 2nd visit {$249.21 + $233.24 = $482.45}


If you're normally in the park only for 1, 2 or 3 days max during your trips then

A 10day MYW Base w/no expiration ($481.38) is a better deal than buying several 3 day MYW Base Tickets expiring ($233.24) for each visit {$233.24 + $233.24 + $233.24 = $699.72}

Our last ticket purchase was a non-expiring 10-day hopper w/ water parks & more. We used 4 park days on our last trip and 1 water park option. Next trip is in Nov and we plan to use 2-3 park days and will purchase separate Christmas party tickets for another day. We will likely never have to buy water park admissions again since we have 2 or 3 more visits on an even older ticket!

Also, I thought there was a thread somewhere about the annual passes now being good for 15 months instead of 12? That might change things a little.

Reading this has been really interesting....and reminds me just how much this depends on how you use tickets and so on.
In the current times it is unlikely we will be going to WDW more than once in 12 months...even 15months...(not by choice...lol)
So we always buy the 10 day hopper with water park.
We typically stay for 2 weeks (14 days) so this works well with 10 park days and the passes for water parks etc.

Of course park access on more than 10 days would be nice for extra park dining and tours and hopping in for an hour or 2 etc even on a WP day...but unless I am calculating things wrongly it isn't a cheap option adding on this benefit for us in getting an AP...
