Changing Dessert and Appetiser

I am sure this question has been answered 100 times before but I am just in the middle of our first WDW trip planning so please forgive me this stupid questions.

We have the regular Dining Plan where we have one main dish and one dessert included. As we are not that big fans of desserts I would like to know if it is possible to change Dessert with Appetiser?

Thank you

:yay:

in short no, sorry

My husband does not like desserts either so we shall be buying him an app if he wants one

Are they very strickt about this or does it make sense to ask at the restaurants anyway?

We have just come back and were on the DDP also, we never asked about this, but, I'm guessing no, they can be strict but it's worth asking. Sometimes we took a dessert just because we could and wouldn't eat it. On the last day we had counter services left over and we just had lunch so we asked if we could have snacks instead and they gave us 1 drink and 2 snacks for each meal we had, we lost value on this but it was ok cause we still saved a lot of dollars. I recommend if you haven't booked table services yet Nine Dragons in Epcot, Spirit of Aloha at the Polynesian Hotel (This takes 2 table services) and Prime Time Cafe in Hollywood Studios.

yeah they are very strict with it and highly unlikely they will allow it.

By having dessert instead of starter I can see the logic as it probably saves them quite a bit as people are more likely not to take up the dessert if they are full after a dinner where with a starter they won't be full as it's the start of the meal. Also you will get people paying for a starter.

As one of the other posters have said I have read that you can swap counter service desserts for extras drinks.

If you dont want a dessert at a table service you request a bowl of fruit instead, I have read they will happily do this, or get you dessert to go which seems quite common in the US and take it back to your resort for later.

They will be strict. With each passing year they seem to get stricter on what you can and cannot have. However, they will be happy to give you something to take your food away in.

We had a meal at the Plaza Restaurant in MK, and had eaten so much for the main course that we could not face dessert. We ordered it but had it put in take-away boxes to take home with us. :goodvibes They are more likely to let you take away the dessert than swap it for an appetizer.

As Gemma said you can always take deserts back with you when we went to CRT we had 3 deserts in our meal (we got engaged had a glass slipper a chocolate bucket (I think) and cup cakes from the fairy god mother) we took some of ours with us they happily did this for us
