The plan for today was to look around Gatlinburg so it was a lazy start to the day with me not getting up until 8:00.

We were out by 8:45 and after a short drive we parked up on the edge of town and spent some time walking up one side of the street and down the other looking in shops on the way. By 11:30 we had worked up a bit of an appetite so we stopped off at No Way José’s where Dad had an Ultimate Burrito, I had a taco salad and we had a root beer each. Total including tip was $25.

After lunch we went up to the black-light golf course where I had a shocking round of 31 for the 9 hole par 22 course and Dad went round in 25.

From there we went into the Hollywood Cars Museum

And then to the beef jerky shop where we got some smoked sausage, various meat sticks (including alligator, ostrich and elk) and some jerky. From there we went to the candy shop where we got some root beer, strawberry and lemon hard candies for in the car.

By now it was 2:15 so we made our way back to the car and drove up to the Smoky Mountain Visitor’s Center where we got some guides for the auto tours and had a look round the shop before getting back to the cabin just after 3:00 for a mid-afternoon break.

We went out again at 6:00 and drove over to Pigeon Forge where the restaurant of choice for the evening was the Wood Grill Buffet, billed as America’s Largest Buffet. We were soon seated and then went up for a look at the buffet which consisted of cheeseburgers, sausages, chicken, fried chicken, beef, pinto beans, ham, corn on the cob and much more. We had a couple of large platefuls each and I finished off with a brownie and a peanut butter cookie and Dad had ice cream. The cost was $12.99 each plus drinks and we came away completely stuffed.

We were back at the cabin by 8:00, where the satellite TV still wasn’t working so we sat planning the day for tomorrow and were in bed by 10:00.

That's not a cable car, that's a CHAIR lift. :scared1: I took one look at it and said "There's no way I'm going on that!"

Oooh, I didn't realise that, thanks Claire. :goodvibes

I did notice it was "just a chair"......I don't blame you, I wouldn't go on that either. :scared1:

I have yet to have a No way Jose, but from what i've read on here they are very yummy!

From allears - No Way Jose - A Peanut Butter and Hot Fudge Delight with Chocolate and Vanilla Ice Cream, Peanut Butter and Chocolate Morsels, Whipped Cream and a Cherry $7.99

:thumbsup2

That chair lift does indeed look a bit steep and would certainly make me think twice - right up until being dragged on by DD no doubt.
Loved the car museum - I would definately have enjoyed looking round there :thumbsup2

Sounds just my sort of thing. Must file that one away in the 'to do next trip' folder. :)

Car museum looks good, did you try any of the crocodile or ostrich at the buffet???

From the jerky shop you mean? Not yet, they're in the cupboard downstairs to be tried soon. I had the elk the other night and that was quite nice but a bit spicy.

Another great day. The buffet sounds yummy:goodvibes

The bed must have been comfy, being as though you had a nice lie in :thumbsup2.
OMG to the chair lift :scared1:,i can just about handle a kids ride at WDW-no way would you get me on that-although i know Tony would. He loved the pics of the cars-he would also like that Museum. That buffet would suit me well-it sounded delicious+a great price, although not keen on your choice of snacks .
I like the look of the mini golf-great Disney reference :thumbsup2,much better's than yesterday's poor offering :rolleyes1 :goodvibes.x.

I agree, that chair lift looks terrifying.

A great exploring day. The golf course looks like a lot of fun and I enjoyed the Disney reference again, of course. Loved the car museum too - we have something similar near us in the Lake District which we really enjoyed going round.

I have never tried jerky so perhaps those flavours might be a bit dangerous for beginners?!

That buffet sounds so good!

Laur's xx

I remember going round that museum years ago. :thumbsup2

The buffet was great, I was going to go back there for breakfast on our last morning but it was completely the opposite direction to where we were going. :sad2: Still as we all say - "Gives us an excuse to go back".

Sounds like a fun day, a slice of real 'tourist America' if you know what I mean :) I would so go on that chair lift, but then again i'm a bit reckless! :rotfl:
